      Good afternoon,

Another quite pleasant day here - the breeze is lighter and there are sunny spells.

I hope you didn’t feel too disheartened when you saw the changes made to your former garden @Goldenlily26. As you say, you can take comfort from the hours of pleasure the work you did gave you at the time it was yours, and continue to enjoy and gain pleasure from the garden you have now. I sometimes think I’d like to take a peek at our former house and garden, but then think, well, no, it doesn’t belong to me now and other people have different ideas, which I might or might not like. It does seem a shame, though, that your former garden has been changed so dramatically.

Sounds as if you had a productive day yesterday @Ante1, and even got more done than you’d originally intended. Your baking bread has got me thinking that I really ought to get my bread maker on the go again - the smell of baking bread is, in my opinion, one of life’s greatest pleasures.

Glad to hear you avoided injury yesterday @Punkdoc :).

I was sorry when Owen Farrell left Saracens to go to Racing 92 which immediately prevented him from playing for England. I loved his laser eye sizing up of a kick.
Goodnight @PatE. Hope you get a decent sleep.
@Blue arbour I agree completely about the smell of baking bread.

Sunday morning all. its just a little past 9AM here. Yes, the baby shower was awesome. wish I could easily upload pics here. Her Aunt hosted it in her 3000 square foot historic home sitting on 10 acres, gardens beautiful. Home decorated like a home traditional magazine, beautiful layout, kitchen to die for, 3 fire places, rafters . Lots of flower arrangements in places, and tables set up in a large area. The guest of honor had her chair surrounded by flowers and balloons. As she is having a girl, lots of pink everywhere. You would not believe how much food there was, and good stuff. She had 35 people there. Most her family and friends, and a few from my prior job, so nice to see those folks. Started at 11Am ended at 2PM. She had a load of gifts, good stuff. My gift was a handmade throw and handmade teddy bear, and some clothes and lavender lotion. A little history about her, I hired her when she was 19, trained her etc. She now is a big time director over a division in the county next to me. Have known her like 20 years. She has sadly lost several babies in a few weeks, always wanting a baby, did adopt two babies. Her first husband was a nut. She is on husband #2, but he his a keeper, loves her to death, a good one. This is the first time the baby stuck, so her first baby, she delivers end of May. The name has been chosen, Molly Jean, (so cute).
Anyway, off to still do house stuff and garden tending. Take care .

and I hope mom is not over protective of her. She does have a grandmother and mother still about---I am thinking if they see her overprotectiveness of the child they will say something. Not my place. My mother had a child prior to me, she died at 3 days old. My mother was over protective of me. One thing, she would not let me take swimming lessons when offered. Its sort of understandable --the over protective stuff, but in the long run the child needs to learn to calculate risks etc. We shall see. Studies have shown that more male babies are conceived and miss -carried than girls, and less girls are conceived and survived.

@redstar - the baby shower sounds amazing - the aunt's house even more so!

I think baby showers are a relatively new American import to this country. They were certainly not an event 30 to 40 years ago when my family & friends were busy making babies. We might give small presents and hand knitted items individually - but there was no party or mass gathering. We saved that for the christenings...

My young nieces have certainly had baby showers - but it still seems to be very much a small event for female friends of their own age - no mums, aunties or other oldies in attendance! Always seem to feature cupcakes:scratch:

I do agree with you about the importance of allowing children to find out about danger, pain and risk by trial and error. Within reason of course. Still find it hard to fathom Richard Branson's mum dropping him off in the middle of nowhere at the age of about 7 and telling him he had to find his own way home (think that's the story anyway).

I’ve done my Sunday jobs and just awaiting some chicken with sweet potato wedges. The apple blossom is glowing in the evening sun, so I’m looking at that whilst waiting for the oven to beep.

@redstar I hope all goes well for your friend and that she has a healthy baby. Lovely that she met the right man eventually.

@Goldenlily26 a few years ago I went to see my old house in Kent. We left it in 1985 to move to France. I was young then but mad keen on gardening. It had 3 acres and I once opened it for charity. All my beds had gone, so had the roses and the lovely rhododendron walk. It was just parkland. But I'm not there now and I have another garden.

We went to the plant fair at the chateau. There were some nice plants there, cheaper than the GCs but not as cheap as the nurseries. I bought 7 plants. There were some crafts, stained glass things, knitted thinks, jewellery in 2 indoor rooms. No refreshments, not even a drink. There was a wine tasting though, but we didn't feel like wine in the morning. There were loads of French people and some English, cars parked all up the verges, quite a squeeze on the narrow road. When we walked into the chateau grounds we found there was a half empty car park, but there had been no signs for it.

I did gardening in the afternoon. It was sunny but there was a nip in the air.

                    Here is the chateau.

@Busy-Lizzie, whenever I hear the word 'chateau' for an odd reason I get transported back to when I used to watch the BBC comedy programme 'Allo 'Allo.

Lunch time here, so I might think about something tempting.

                          catch up later.

                                Good morning all :coffee1:
Waking up in our own bed after a lovely weekend with MIL. Bright sunshine outside but a touch of frost on the roofs. Son looked after my seedlings just fine … they need potting on now … so lots to do today … better get a move on. Hope everyone’s had a good weekend… I’ll read back when I get a moment…
