Solved Help with id of this weed (?) please

    Please can someone identify this which appeared in a pot in my MIL's garden. I suspect it might be from the bird feeder but not sure. It's quite tall, around 2.5 feet. Many thanks.

    Could it be Erigeron canadensis aka Hogweed?

    It doesn't look like the hog weed leaves that I was digging out in an area of our garden this morning.

    I think it's also referred to as Horseweed as opposed to Hogweed @On the Levels . I looked up the Latin name and the flower head looks the same :smile:.

      It's a form of fleabane, there are several subtly different varieties including Guernsey, Canadian, Bilbao's and Argentine Fleabanes. I have found Guernsey and Bilbao's near me.

      Do you think it would have come from bird seed, or more likely "blown in on the wind" @Escarpment ?

      wind blown I expect. It's a common wild plant which is on the increase in most parts of the country, and it produces loads of fluffy little seeds.
