@Ladybird4 and @Topbird It was good especially with a few sips of red wine! Yes at 9.30am!! We HAD TO be at the top of the row and cutting at 7.30am so that the trailer would be full by 9/9.30am and ready to go to the Cooperative when it first opened - that was when we could sit down and have the snack - while the old man was taking his grapes to the crusher!!

I won't tell you about the delicious meal that was waiting for us made by MIL and an elderly aunt at midday. Quite hard to go back in the afternoon to work from 1.30 to 4.30 as the Cooperative closed at 5pm.

It was hard work and I am sorry to generalise but the majority of people don't seem to have the stamina to do this sort of seasonal work. Some "kids" say university age, would work the summer season in restaurants etc then in September do the grape harvest for a month until varsity opened in October. Lucky most vineyards are machine picked now.

@Ladybird4 - got to 4000. I've got to be around next week - old boiler and water tank going; new boiler (re-sited) and an amazing amount of pipework coming. All delivered this morning.
          Eeek!!

You went titchy tiny writing there @Tui34 .

I bought some nice coarse pate and sour dough bread. I'll have that with tomatoes and pickled gherkins in a minute. Thanks for the idea.

We have had some nice long sunny spells and I got quite hot in the car as I ambled home a very long way round driving through teeny tiny villages within a 5 mile radius of here but which I rarely have cause to visit. All felt very spring like and I thought - yes I'll go out and do some planting and mulching. A soon as I stepped out of the car I realised I probably wouldn't - it's still very cold - and the sun's gone in now....

@Tui, I think your text has shrunk in the wash! I've had a good time in the garden this morning. Received my little Narcissus bulbocodium (in the green) and got them planted in my new tall trough. Obviously they are only grass type leaves at the moment and I won't see any flowers until next year. I would like to have obtained some Narcissus cyclamineus in the green too but they seem to be Autumn order only. I'll not give up the hunt though.
I've had to refill the alpaca cages, as the feather dusters are really busy nest lining. That's the second refill so far this Spring. I took some - with a cage - to Bestie's yesterday as she had never even heard of that being done. She sent me a text today to say that half of the wool has gone already.
Ooooh gherkins @Topbird, now you are talking!

Thanks all for comments about the pics. Yes, it was awesome. So glad I got to attend.
Friday, 49 degrees here, 9:12AM Sipping coffee. Have got to get in the garden some today. Still working on the trip. Hope to have all done except for the return route by Sunday. Looks like we get to go on a Ferry. I know for some that is normal, taking Ferries, over here nope. Adventure awaits for us.
                Have a grand day all.

Thank you for the idea @Topbird
I've no idea what the phone number was, although I know the area code. I've passed the options forward and backward, with and without the 0.
I'll try a couple of hundred more this afternoon, when I return from my exercise, and the chemist.
I have passed 40%, so am encouraged that there are fewer than 60% to do.
Maybe I should start again at 9998, and work backwards!
But, walk off that lunch first!!
Thank you for the ideas. I've not dreamed about it yet!!!

@RowlandsCastle, my OH is a fan of a YouTube presenter called the Lockpicking Lawyer, who demonstrates how easy it is to pick virtually any sort of padlock, and I think, some of those keyless security boxes. Might be worth a look if you can find his ?webpage, ?podcast, whatever they are called.
Cold and grey yesterday, so I went into Exeter and had a browse round the shops. Bought some socks for OH, but not too tempted by anything else. It was nice to see the new spring like colours, but with the current weather, it’s hard to imagine that it will ever be warm enough to wear them.

I’ve been helping OH with the bedroom painting this morning, it’s going fairly slowly but some of that is time waiting for things to dry. I’m in charge of cleaning skirting boards, removing the spiders from behind the wardrobe, and washing up the brushes and trays.
Just finished a late lunch, while watching the activity in the garden, too cold and damp to be tempted to go out. The blue tits are in and out of the nest box, and searching through the plants on the banks. I’m guessing they must have hatchlings to feed now, they’ve been very busy.
The bird feeders are in great demand, just seen a nuthatch and the usual siskins visiting the sunflower hearts. There is a pair of long tailed tits helping themselves to the suet nibbles, and a greater spotted woodpecker has also been for a snack. I was also delighted to see a goldfinch having some sunflower hearts. We rarely see them in the garden here.
Hope you all have an enjoyable weekend, maybe with some decent weather.

@Ergates, what a lovely selection of birds you have visiting you I got very excited the other day when I heard the twitterings of our summer visitors. I saw some beautiful swallows today whilst in my garden. Well done on the painting job - something else that should go on my to do list along with window cleaning. The car could do with a wash too. How come these jobs just seemed to get done all the while I was working?

It was. And sustained me for the walk home.

Picture below is just into the field at the start of my walk, at the end of the road.
