@pete Yes, it was N. Devon at Lymouth and Lynton. I think it was the summer of 1952 and we were there! :rolleyespink: Everybody on holiday there were asked to leave the town. I can't actually remember where we ended up.

I had no idea the Lynton/Lynmouth flooding might have been caused by human intervention. :thud:

I remember one yr there was talk of cloud seeding to ensure dry weather for Wimbledon tennis, but they ruled it out and decided to build a roof instead.

Russian friends have told us that it’s well known that cloud seeding is used in Russia to ensure fine weather for big parades and other important events.

Honestly, humans should not be in charge of the planet! :noidea:

Back to the weather, I'm quite enjoying this spring, even if it has been on the cool side. Rain not been too bad this month - lots at the start of the month, and the last 2 days. Just a few light showers for the weeks in between.

I much prefer this to the very dry springs we've had in recent years. The garden looks so much better for it.

Yes, I lived in Moscow for a while. Victory Day on May 9th was always sunny for the military parade through downtown Moscow (I was there for 3 of them); people used to tell us the clouds had been seeded to clear them.

A fascinating city with a rich history I'm sure, but the climate there looks very difficult to live in year round. I often wonder how a city with such bitterly cold and long winters became a sprawling urban metropolis of ~10 million people.
