I finally got around to repairing the coffee machine this morning. The happiness comes not from correcting various issues with an overly complex machine and not losing a single screw but in the cessation of nagging about it from the Mrs! :heehee:

My laptop gave up the ghost last year. Bought a new one. Old one just sitting around. Then a neighbour in our village said he would have a look and see what he could do but no promises. He fixed it! All to do with a wire getting stuck and not connecting. A nice bottle of wine was all I had to pay. Nearly smashed up the old one so glad we didn't. Very grateful to my IT neighbour.

I needed to print a get well card I've made for a friend who's having a hip replacement operation next week but my printer wouldn't work - it needed an update downloading :frown: and I'm clueless with things like that,
so I got in touch with a technology help place in Carmarthen and they talked me through the steps to download this update thing, telling me what to click on etc, and now it's working again and I can print the card :dbgrtmb:

And I can also print the birthday card I've made for a friend's budgie too

This friend is someone I 'met' on another garden forum many years ago and she sends my cat a birthday card every year, so I send ones to her two dogs and budgie. I don't mind because I enjoy making them, and she's pleased to get home made ones

                Today I bought a guitar.

I can't actually play the guitar, but I've always kind of wanted to but never really put in any kind of effort. Today I saw a cheap acoustic guitar in cash converters for 30 quid. It sounds nice. I nearly walking away, unable to justify it knowing I might never bother, but my youngest son also wanted it, so after hesitating for a bit, I decided I can justify it if we all share it. At the very least, even if none of us learn to play it, it looks cool.

A piano takes up a bit more space ... and requires upkeep. A big commitment for an impulse buy.

It was an old upright sort and completely out of tune, not that it would make a difference to my playing :roflol:
I ended up giving it away to some removals chaps that I happened to be chatting to and it came up in conversation

A very out-of-tune one may actually be untunable as tightening the strings sufficiently cracks the frame. Even good models (make like Yamaha, well maintained) are tricky to get rid of now, as keyboards have such a realistic action and require less room and zero maintenance. Plus you can play via headphones, thus not inflicting your music-making on neighbours! Liberating!

Yesterday made me happy because it was the first day I'd been able to get out and start to weed the borders. Today has ****ed me off because it's been raining again for most of the day.

First Salvia flower of the season in open this morning - S. Mirage Deep Purple. I haven't even pruned it yet - you can see the blue-tinged leaves that have overwintered and one of last year's dead flower spikes.

Our kitchen dishwasher - 7 years old - has a broken door hinge. Chappy came at the expected time, after confirming by SMS, diagnosed the problem, ordered the part and will be back on Friday to fix it. Public holiday tomorrow and Thursday already booked up. Impressive efficiency tho.

Fortunately, we have a spare in the scullery/pantry as we brought our free-standing Bosch - 15years old - from the old house. Handy to have when I'm in a baking frenzy or have a houseful of guests.
