    I think maybe I'm glad that I don't have any buds on my roses yet. The weather today would probably have knocked them all off - rain, hail, winds. I'm staying by the radiator.

      I've got a couple of tiny buds on my Palais Biron. Completely covered in aphids. I did wipe them off, but they're very determined.
      Hopefully they won't affect the blooms too badly, it was my favorite last year.

        I've just had an email from Peter Beales about their new rose. I saw it when I did a course with them in February, but it didn't have any leaves then.
        Introducing our new rose

                  Arthur Bell is out now. First one of the 47 roses I have planted here in the last 3 years, but I planted him in 2022.

                  The red rose was here when I moved here in Jan 21. I don't know which it is. It's a climber, was in a bad way smothered by an oleander and possibly never fed or watered. There was one flower the first year I was here. I pruned the oleander and fed and watered the rose. It looks much happier but I don't think it's a very tall climber. No scent. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? @Mrs Hillard? Please.

                    Nice to see the roses blooming abroad.. hopefully we will soon catch up..

                    @Busy-Lizzie
                    Lovely red rose, and presumably bought in France, which would make i.d. tricky, as they will have other choices of red roses. The foliage is modern, and reminds me of 'Dublin Bay', which doesn't have much scent. If in UK I would have guessed at that.

                    Thank you @Mrs Hillard. It does look like photos of Dublin Bay but I can't find that rose on the French and Belgium websites. It looks like a rose called Sympathie, but that is scented and I can't smell it.

                      I used to grow 'Sympathie', but it was a long time ago. I can't remember about the scent but I discounted it as it didn't remind me enough of it.. but you could be right.

                      I do remember it was very lanky, several feet of bare stems at the base.

                            Lovely @Mrs Hillard. I have her in France, present from my daughter.

                            My roses in Norfolk are nowhere near flowering yet.
