Maybe I've missed a post. I saw personal anecdotes. I didn't see any attempt at diagnosing anything.

He said @pete should follow his doctors' recommendations. And that is all for a good reason!

And Pete wasn't asking for a diagnosis either
But you don't ask professional to put themselves in danger of a lawsuit.

The forum language calmer caused confusion and demanding a medical opinion from that interpretation is challenging a professional to comment on the "anectdotal" conversation is beyond the pale. Just my opinion....

Any way it's not worth falling out over, I had already cancelled yesterday so it's too late to do go back on that.
She said I'll discharge you which is odd as they had never even seen me.

Yes I've heard that they can do it with an MRI but I don't think they have enough machines and it's probably more expensive.

My problem, was not that people were discussing medicine, but that they were offering advice, which was based hearsay and was potentially dangerous.

My advice remains, see your dr., take the tests offered.

To be fair I think most were offering the same advice, probably shouldn't have brought the subject up.

I am curious now - other than people offering the advice/suggestion that further medical advice should be sought, and a modicum of humour and/or personal experience/understanding, I have not seen anyone throwing strange advice or ideas  Given your qualifications, perhaps you could enlighten us?

From what I’ve read here most folk said that Pete should follow the medical advice. When a qualified medical professional agreed with them some hackles appear to have been raised. Most odd :dunno:

I know the investigative procedures ain’t fun. I’ve had some of them a few times. But as someone who’s recently lost a younger brother to something that was spotted too late, my best advice is don’t sail off into the sunset with your fingers in your ears and singing la-la-la. The outcome maybe so much sadder (and infinitely more painful) than it needs to be.

I don't think that the hackles were raised by the medical advice but by the deprecating manner in which it was done, which I think was unnecessary. I have had a few complaints about that. We try to keep the forum friendly and unnecessary digs which can be construed to be aimed at some members are not needed when the point of the rest of the post was well made.

I'm sorry if I caused offence, but some of the posts contained factually untrue statements, as they might have applied to the original posters [ it would be inappropriate for me to elaborate on a forum ]
I think maybe I should stay away from medical threads, but I do worry that people might be getting the wrong advice.

Personally, I think your knowledge and experience could be of benefit. Whilst I won't shy away from being critical if I think it is warranted, equally I believe it is important that where there is sound advice available it should be shared; and if advice is demonstrably wrong, that too should be pointed out, lest it be acted upon.

Writing styles differ … as do the inferences drawn by individual readers … just some of the perils of forum-life. I try to assume that most folk mean well even if their writing style seems to me to be a bit off …. Hey ho :)

@Punkdoc I agree with @Fat Controller that your medical advice is extremely welcome it was just an unfortunate phraseology that was the problem. That's the reason why I always read my posts again before clicking 'Post Reply'. Even then I sometimes find, after posting, that I could have phrased my wording better - and then edit it. :)
