Glad that your marigolds haven't been eaten - but there again, I don't know any creature that eats rubber gloves.

Yes, @pattie I do try to keep busy, because I need to be active. Plus, with a new house and garden, there are so many jobs to do - ones that my OH can't do. Not that she wouldn't try.
But she is the one who goes out to work, whereas I lounge around at home. Okay, so maybe not quite lounging around, but I do forget the important stuff sometimes.

        Hi all

Quite a nice day out there, went for my early morning stroll round the garden, and have written a list of jobs for today. I suspect that come finishing time, the list will be longer, and none of the listed jobs will have been tackled.

Hope the sun is shining, wherever you are. An early start here, we are just finishing breakfast in a cafe in Sidmouth ( coffee and an almond croissant) OH needs some new clothes, I usually just buy them for him, but he really needs to try on the shoes, so I’ve dragged him down here. Luckily it looks as if it will be a glorious day, so we will have time for a walk as well, ( if he’s good and behaves well in the shops!)
We had our timing belt replaced last year, took about four plus hours. The main dealer wanted over a thousand pounds, as they ‘recommend’ the water pump is replaced at the same time. We have found an excellent independent garage, specialising in our group brand of car, they booked me in at a time to suit, so we were able to avoid the rush hour struggle into the city.
The garage is also within walking distance of Exeter Quays, so we had a terrific walk along the side of the Exe and the canal, and saw lots of birds, including herons, and even a seal. Had time for lunch overlooking the water, and the time flew by. They didn’t need to replace the water pump, and it was less than half the price of the main dealer. And they’d quoted us for the fitting parts individually, but they arrived as a kit, which was cheaper, so the bill was less than they’d said. Very happy!

Thank you. The worst of the head pain has subsided, but some remains. The epilepsy is never going to disappear though, and seizures occur daily.
I'm back at the hospital at the end of the month, plus next month, so I'll see what they say. I MUST NOT FORGET TO GO!!

              Hello all,

Sorry been AWOL for ages, unfortunately a bit of drama has been going on in my life. All ok (ish) now, but the new love of my life is in hospital awaiting a quadruple bypass, the poor man. He's been in intensive care for two weeks and they've just moved him into the 'normal'ward. A very scary two weeks.

I've had friends staying too, they came to meet Laurent, but obviously then couldn't, all very complicated.

Now I'm in UK with Charlie for 5 days, again pre booked, and as the operation isn't until next week Laurent insisted we go. It's been nice to see friends.

Hopefully I'll get more chance to catch up on here.

Best wishes to all, I'll try and read back.

                  Poor you, @Dordogne Damsel.

I am amazed your husband lets you buy his clothes, @Ergates, I wouldn't allow my wife anywhere near me when clothes shopping. Nowadays I do it all on line anyway.

                    Morning all.

What a stressful time you've had @Dordogne Damsel. I'm sure the bypass will make a big difference to Laurent. I hope you can enjoy your stay in the UK.

When I met OH, who had been widowed 3 years before, he had hardly any clothes in his wardrobe. His trousers were frayed on the bottom of the legs. I took him to M&S and bought him new trousers, tee shirts and jumpers. Now he takes more interest in what he wears and likes me to shop with him.

Son 2 and his lovely French wife arrive this afternoon with their 5 children aged between 2 and 10. I bought another single bed duvet yesterday as I found that one of my old ones was a high tog for winter and the weather has warmed up. They will be here until Monday, so a busy time ahead.

@Dovefromabove, that is good news that you will actually have transport to get about but I can understand you wanting to get your preparation done for your trip and its a little too far to go home just to drive back again I guess??

It's in my diary (which often gets mislaid, temporarily), it's on my phone (I forget to look) and it's in my wife's house diary (if I can find it).
                            But thank you, @Ladybird4

                              Morning all,

My best wishes to @RowlandsCastle for your future good health and well-being.

Getting your cam belt changed is very prudent @Dovefromabove (if it were to break, bad things would happen to your engine).

This is a very stressful time for you @Dordogne Damsel . I can only send best wishes to your Significant Other, and my sincere hopes that his surgery is entirely successful.

If I may finish on a lighter note - I'm not sure at what size this will come out, or whether the text will be big enough to be legible, but here it is anyway...
