What a strange thunder storm we had earlier! It went dark, thunder rolled in the distance, then a bit of rain started, then more thunder and the heaviest burst of rain and hail I have ever seen! Within minutes it cleared away, just leaving the balls of hail melting as the sun returned.

Take care everyone - catch you tomorrow.

I'm popping in here briefly, before going to bed, to say that we were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights on Friday night - the first time ever, anywhere, for me, OH and our visiting daughter - after a very late return home from a rehearsal (for a concert we sang in, yesterday, in Galway). A completely clear, fairly dark sky helped. It's very unusual to see them in this county, though more common further north; nothing to what others in more favoured places saw, but we were captivated.

Good morning everyone. You’re all sounding cheerful and your gardening exploits sound good. Not much growing here. Too cold.

          Hi all

A fierce storm woke us in the night and has left us with a very misty start to the day.
Today I shall be starting to move the Cannas out of the house, trying not to spill compost all over the carpets. I am already in the doghouse for managing to water the new curtains whilst tending to the Colocasias.

@AuntyRach, it was very similar here last night - without the hail.
@Liriodendron, how lovely for you to see the Aurora. I did look again last night/early this morning but no luck. It was too overcast after the storm and even the moon was hidden.

                Good morning all :coffee1:
13c and a bit hazy in south Lincs
No storms here @Punkdoc but we heard from SIL that she went through a humdinger late yesterday afternoon on her way back to S Wales.
Take it steady .., mind your back!

Morning all, checked the nhs website the other day and booked myself in for the uptodate COVID vaccine, so all done. Tea made, breakfast eaten and dressed and ready for the day. I can already hear the locals out with the hedge trimmers.

Good morning all. It's another lovely day but then it will become more showery and cooler as the week progresses. Washing out for today, then!
I'm reminded of @PatE's cloud photos, reading today's page of Shakespeare sayings-
"Sometimes we see a cloud that's dragonish
A vapour sometimes like a bear or lion
A towered citadel. a pendem rock..."
                    Antony and Cleopatra

We have been finding patterns in clouds for hundreds of years: the fine combination of human imagination and an ever- changing canvas.
And finally, for those who got a deluge last night (we did)
Trinculo in The Tempest put it beautifully, I think

"Yond same black cloud, yond huge one, looks like a foul bombard that would shed his liquor."

                    That's enough culture for today!

I'm just about to have my breakfast- yoghurt and fresh fruit, a big cup of black coffee.
I'm doing domestic tasks, then this lunchtime will sort out my phone.

Have a super day. whatever you've got to do (or not do!)

Hello there @Rosie loves nature. Had mine done a fortnight ago. Hope you don't get any side effects. My arm was stiff the next day but that was all.

Thank you @Punkdoc … MIL is doing really nicely … bright and cheerful and eating well .., we’ll be here until the weekend as she has an outpatients visit to have the drain removed on Thursday. Then OH’s other sister who lives locally will be popping in to do lifting, vacuuming, shopping etc. for a while (in between seeing to her horses). My tomatoes and squashes are enjoying their holiday in sunny S Lincs … spending the nights in the garden room and the days out on the patio. Son seems to he fine, he spent yesterday with friends and will be at work this week. Wonky is keeping an eye on him of course, bless her. :)

                              Morning all.

Thank-you @Ladybird4 . Yes it looked just like that one, so today I have learned how to recognise a tree bumble bee :) (any day I learn something new is a good day).

@lizzie27 I seem to have self-seeded poppies growing in most of my pots this year. They are welcome to do so as long as they flower.

Your recipe sounds very appetising @redstar .

Glad to hear you had a wonderful day in the garden yesterday @pattie

Continued best wishes to your Mother-In-Law @Dovefromabove

The forecast downpour/thunderstorm never arrived here yesterday or last night. It was dry here until around 10am, and the rain so far is steady but light. Good news - I now have three (self-seeded) poppies in flower! :hapydancsmil:

Best wishes to everyone (as always).

That is my philosophy too @Badly_Maintained. If I don't learn at least one new thing every day I feel as if I have missed out!
