Well we shall have to agree to disagree;)
Well personally speaking I am living proof that you can function very well when emotionally involved in most things we come across, and I also know others who do the same in all walks of life, and function very well yes ,at times it can be difficult but it is very rewarding and very possible:smile:

I dont think we can complain about the amount of wildlife getting out of hand.
That is definitely a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

My moan for today - ink. Printer ink. We need some and in fact I have just bought some... thick end of £100 for sodding ink.

@Fat Controller We have a fairly fancy HP printer. The last time we needed a set of cartrisges, OH came home with a new Epson printer with 4 generous bottles of ink for less than the HP cartridges would have cost.

The problem is the Epson doesn't scan so we have to keep the flipping HP!

We had an Epson and indeed there was a time I liked Epson, but our last was the biggest pile of junk going. The current one is a Brother and to be fair it is an excellent printer... the first network printer that I've ever had that just works, with no hassle. But the ink is expensive, sadly. I refuse to use the non-genuine stuff too as I've seen too many issues with that over the years.

Can't remember the last time I printed anything but I've a suspicion that our printer buried at the bottom of the wardrobe is a pile of junk Epson. Bought it after a cheapo ink cartridge exploded in the old one whose name I remember not. Then there was the one that took agin our computer but worked perfectly with next door's.

This is where all those companies have saved.
They all just send out e mails and the like and you have to print it off yourself, even returns labels etc.

They used to have to do that and send you proper copies, but now its all online.

When I did have a printer the ink just kept drying up because I didn't use it enough.

Old tech. Hopefully it will go the way of video cassettes. Actually they weren't so bad. Player is wedged behind the sofa in case we want to look at toddler videos of my daughter. Do they degrade? I hope not.

When I started my working life, I worked in an IT company and we installed hundreds of Epson LQ 100's - - tough as old boots they were. Epson are sadly not the same now.

My nephew just used to buy the bottles of ink and refill his printer himself. I don't think I'd want to try that!
We had a shop, in a nearby small town, that used to do refills and they were very good. Don't know if it still exists. What with the t'interweb now, I expect many of these little shops sruggle or don't stay open for long. We needed ink recently, and I'd got some from a company online who had been good, but the prices have gone through the roof. Daughter got some at the s'market instead - half the price and perfectly compatible. I suppose it depends on the printer you have etc.

I used to fill my own ink cartridges, it was really messy. That was in the days when I was printing a community newsletter and I saved a fortune so it was worth it. I agree how expensive it is, surely someone could have found a better system without digital.

Just a little tip, if the cartridge has dried through lack of use, fill a saucer with warm water then dip (barely touch the water) the small area where the ink has dried (DON'T get any electronics wet), then dab the 'wet' bit on a kitchen towel where it should show a bit of ink, keep repeating until you the ink is showing on the towel. In the end you should get a tiny tiny flow of ink when you dip. This has worked quite a lot of times for me without a problem. My printer is a HP and cartridges are so expensive.

We have an old Epson SX400 inkjet (must be getting on for 15-20 years old) and we use cheap cartridges which cost just over £1 each. We use it quite a lot and it runs perfectly :fingers crossed:. Friends who have more modern printers seem to have a lot of problems. It's an old friend now. :)
