    I only have 47 in France and 17 in Norfolk. @ViewAhead I don't think @Mrs Hillard has that many all at once. That's what she's had through her lifetime. I once had over 100 at one house, over 70 at my last house.

      @ViewAhead
      Oh I don't have a 1000, that's over a period of around 40 years.. which sounds a whole lot better doesn't it?..
      Oh, just noticed Busy Lizzie's post above, which is correct, yes..

      I only have around 50 roses currently, which is more than I can sometimes manage.

      'Scented Garden' has these rather charming opening blooms..

              Ah, I see! 1,000 at a time did seem a lot to care for. Deadheading alone would be a full-time job. :biggrin: Mind, even 40+ ... :thud:

              Every time I come on this thread I think "Ooh, I like that one best" and then I go onto the next post and think "No, that's my favourite" and on to the next post ... and ... and ... :)

                That's one way to encourage you to build up a collection @ViewAhead! Then you can go to a GC or look at roses online or visit a garden. You will become an addict

                  I currently have one climbing rose! One!! Phyllis Bide, growing nicely and buds just starting to appear. Rather excited at the thought of what the coming months will show :fingers crossed:

                    'Bajazzo' and 'Ispahan' above, particularly nice I think..

                    The new DA rose 'Emma Bridgewater' released today.. actually it was leaked a few days ago.. I thought I might like it but today I'm not so sure.
                    ..whereas an opening bloom of 'Bathsheba' is just lovely..

                      I'm with you with one climbing rose @Bluejayway , though I have Generous Gardener. It rather annoys me with it's wishy washy blooms that last about a day each. I wish I'd got the now discontinued Shropshire Lad instead. But GG is really very big now, and as it's on the front of the house it's a bit of statement piece and would take a long time for something else to reach that size, so I leave it where it is.

                          I think the new David Austin rose, Emma Bridgewater, looks like a slightly darker Euastacia Vye. There are already so many pink roses, bit disappointing.

                          There is a thread about it already on GC New rose

                            Getting more interested in roses now, there are so many to choose from that it's a bit of a lottery!
