Why am I not getting alerts for some threads that I am 'watching' ?
I am missing posts because of this

I never get them for 'What's looking good in May'
    'Members Roses'
    'An Algarve Garden'
    'Close-ups of flowers'

    And more ...

When I find the threads and look at them I can see lots of posts that I've missed because I don't get alerts,
even though I am supposedly 'watching' those threads.

Are you referring to e mail alerts. Or just site alerts.

Just site alerts - I don't want email alerts, I couldn't cope with those.

Some times if you get an alert (top right of page) and you don't go to that thread you don't get another alert, sometimes you can go to that thread then come out of it quick it doesn't think that you have been there so shool up and down in thread even if you don't read anything

          I think it's here -
If you hover on your username at the top of the page, select Preferences from the drop down menu.
Put a tick in Automatically Watch Threads......
Don't put a tick in Receive emails
          Then click on Save Changes

Then you should get an onscreen Alert at the top of the page when someone replies etc

I only look at certain threads so by having alerts it's easier than scrolling through lots of things I don't want to see.
I had a look and found that I've already done that. I unticked it and re-ticked it, then saved the changes so we'll see if it works now

I just use new posts at the top, if I haven't seen it it shows up there.

That's ok if you want to see all the new posts but I only want to see what I'm really interested in, so I find alerts are better
