Achillea. Supermarket buy last year, survived the winter in a pot and then I split it into 3 or 4 clumps and planted it out earlier this spring. This is the first clump to flower. 2024-05-27_13-01-43_cropped.jpg

A kind of "floral arrangement" using 4 leaves of my Persicaria runcinata 'Purple Fantasy' in various stages of fading to purple. Since we had not frost to speak of last Winter, it has grown to enormous proportions (not that I complain). In full bloom at the moment.

Looking great! I have both Astrantia major ‘Roma’ and Astrantia major ‘Shaggy’ in the garden and am quite disappointed with their poor growth, after an initial great show the first and second year of planting. No idea what I'm doing wrong. Suggestions welcome!

@LunarSea Over the many years of visiting gardens we have never seen Azara serrata in any of them. Lovely to see your photo.
In amongst the rain showers we have had to prune ours back as it was getting very top heavy but we did have a magnificent flush of fragrant flowers a few weeks back.

I find them a bit variable @Papi Jo last year the show was brief and not that great, but this year they look great. I have them in a semi shady location surrounding a small hydrangea. I wonder if they needed more water.

With astrantias, I find sometimes they last 20 yrs ... and sometimes only 2. :dunno: 'tis a puzzle!

Yeah, I took that shot in Sheffield Botanical Gardens (as with the African Hemp) but I have to admit I didn't really notice much scent. Really striking tree though.

Seeing the fuchsia pics earlier, led me to hone in on the one in our new garden.
