Isn't it annoying when plants that usually look good together in flower go out of sync

Extremely inconsiderate of them I would say. That can certainly be a problem if purchasing plants you have seen in flower at one of the big shows. Some are forced and others held back to give the impact the stall holders/exhibitors want.

Fair enough but not when I've had them in my garden for years. Weird weather? Brexit? Cussedness?

    Absolutely.

I love my Geranium magnificum, admittedly it doesn't flower for long, but I have never seen it flower this early, its usually July or at the very earliest last week of June. But its flowering now.

That's the one that's annoying me the most. It hasn't flowered at all yet @Erigeron usually mid to late spring here

Bound to be Brexit! Every time Michael Heseltine pops up on the BBC, somewhere a geranium thinks "Right, that's it! I'm not flowering"!

My Magnificum is out, but if this wind and rain keeps up, that situation is likely to be even shorter than the usual 4 week window!

Nothing to do with the weird weather patterns, which themselves are obviously the fault of Brexit. It is entirely the fault of Brexit, particularly if plant flowering times can in some way be associated with Boris.

Looks like the tory's are taking labour's leaflets out of your letter box and replacing with their leaflets and vice-versa :nonofinger: well it will help with the recycling :dbgrtmb: as long they don't just chuck it in the Hedge down the road

I'd like to thank them for doing it. I never read them anyway and it makes one less item to put into the recycling bin.

Hello and thanks for the tip, @lizzie27 . So far so good with the home-made protection, though the bored teenage magpies have gone on to other things - this morning, pulling flowers off my geranium Mrs Kendall Clark... :noidea:

Pleased your home made protection is working so far, if not for your geranium!
Having mentioned the fleece tunnel yesterday reminded me to get it out of the shed this morning. I then found out it's not as wide as I thought, it's probably more like 3 ft so I shall have gaps each end of my bean rows!

We have chooks loose in the veg plot @lizzie so have a system of posts at the ends and down teh sides of the raised beds then green nets attached to keep the hens out. We also have a system of long plastic tubes that can be bent over and held by small bits of reebar pushed in the ground and then we can clip butterfly netting over the brassicas.

That keeps the chooks out too and would work for other birds.

@Obelix-Vendée , that makes a lot of sense, how do you cut your rebar though? I've often thought of doing something along the same lines as our raised veg beds are three decking planks
              high.

The geranium flowers have been deposited on the newly-sown veg beds. It looks quite pretty...
