    @shiney that's just amazing. We all want to see some photos. We put all our bones out and it's not long before they've gone. Sometimes we get those huge seagulls - they must be circling around high up. And at night the fox goes off with them. I don't think I've ever seen a red kite anywhere, certainly not in our garden.

    @CatDouch and @cactus_girl

    Here he is :dbgrtmb: but I can't yet find the blurred photo of him swooping down.

      Just managed not to stand on this elephant hawk moth on the path in the polytunnel. Maybe trying to get out of the horrible wind. Moved it onto a marigold plant so that I wont stand on it.

            We also have pheasants visiting us with one lonely male that seems to be here almost permanently. He had injured his leg a couple of months ago and we made sure he had food. He seems to be fully recovered and tends to eat seeds that the other birds drop from the feeders. As long as we walk slowly we can get within a couple of feet from him before he walks away.

              Went down the garden to have a rummage through the alpine strawberries and found this handsome chap sitting on them. Large red damselfly I believe. 2024-05-30_13-41-29_cropped.jpg

                I was in the garden earlier with Midnight the cat. He is only allowed out of the house under supervision. A robin flew down and Midnight went for him - I think my shriek would have been heard for miles! Anyway, the robin got away so all ok - I think it must have been a young one. When I am in the garden I see lots of birds swooping down towards the feeders and then suddenly veering away - only the robins and blue tits are brave enough (or stupid enough) to land and feed. It's a very small garden.

                  Not as good looking as the green ones with the large legs, but I think this is a soldier beetle?

                      Our crinodendrons are vibrating with hundreds of bees, the noise is very loud and similar to the noise of a swarm but they are just enjoying the feast.
