@Busy-Lizzie , see if your Doc can write you an order to see a Physical Therapist they can show you what exercises you can do to support the weak area.

@lizzie27 Thanks, I have been strongly debating, will give PCP call Monday, she had already offered an order for an osteopath doc. 6-9 months is good for me, will get me through the different trips lined up where walking is necessary.

Ive got a snapped anterior cruciate ligament … nothing can be done … although if I were younger and an expensive footballer they’d try.

I saw a hospital physio who gave me exercises to strengthen the muscles etc around my knee to help stabilise it and stop it giving way beneath me … i think they’ve helped but they’re not a cure … last time it gave way resulted in two broken bones in my foot and I nearly smashed my face on the birdbath … remember when I wrecked the Hesperis matronalis folks?

@Dovefromabove I think that is what I have too, but the ligament was more stretched than snapped, maybe a small tear. The original skiing injury was 40 years ago so I can't remember exactly what the doctor said at the time. One reason I gave up horse riding around 10 years ago was because my knee started to give way when doing rising trot. Usually it's fine but sometimes is painful, then I have to rest it, takes a while to get back to normal.

Getting back to the Joint Pain issue. few years back someone told me about a horse liniment, can be found in Tractor store here in the USA, in the Horse supply area. it is awesome, I put it on my knee, front and back and it takes the pain away for a good day and some. I am sure somewhere at a horse supply area you'd find it. And all I can say, using it, and not dead yet. LOL.

I've had a lovely day, mainly gardening but also enjoying having my son to stay. He was very good and did some odd jobs for us before he went home after lunch. He was very chuffed with the rugby result! It got very hot, up to 25.6c by 4pm so I gave up then but have just been out to water the roses in pots.
Pleased that @Valleysgirl Open event went well and that @AuntyRach enjoyed it as well.
That sounds extremely painful @Dovefromabove, my sympathies and for everybody else suffering bad knees, shoulders, hips etc.

A very good morning one and all. I was deeply sorry when I heard yesterday of the passing of Rob Burrow. Many, many tributes being paid this morning. I have such respect for him having seen many stories of his life bringing attention to MND. His charity work - together with his great friend Kevin Sinfield - has raised such awareness of this dreadful disease. R.I.P.

                  Good morning all :coffee1:
Indeed … RIP Rob Burrow … a remarkable man and a remarkable friendship … and an amazing legacy. Condolences to all who loved and cared for him.
Another dry morning and although it’s a bit overcast the temperature is already 14C.
No mice in the house traps this morning … that’s the fourth day on the trot. I’ve not checked the greenhouse yet … yesterday was clear but there was one caught in there on Saturday morning … was it the last (for the time being?) :fingers crossed:
We got the toms, squashes and courgettes planted out yesterday … poor things looked a little pale and wan … hopefully they’ll pick up soon now they can get their toes in the soil. I gave them some FB&B to help them … and there are some organic slug pellets out there as well as the slug pubs. Short of sit out there all night with a catapult there’s no more I could do …:catapult:

                    Good morning all.

Been off grid for a week as I had visitors and time is really short. The hip and knee pain really just does not help. Grrr!

As @floralies has said, we have had some cooler weather, so the vegetable garden hasn't made much progress. I have replaced the cucumber, courgette and butternut plants and hopefully the snails will keep away with the fine weather we are having now.

Glad to hear that you didn't have to have an eye injection @Allotment Boy I have the onset of AMD also and have had a couple of nights where I have woken with blurred vision. Thought I'd left the window open and fog had come in! It cleared after a minute or so. Quite frightening!

We visited a lovely medieval town called Collioure which is about an hour and a half's drive down the coast. It was heaving, so mid-summer must be terrible. We had a nice lunch. Here are some snaps:

I wish everyone a pleasant day. Need to run the dog before I take her off to the vet for her annual vaccinations.

                        Morning all.

@Tui34 those photos brought back memories for me too. We went there years ago when my children were still children.

I must look up Rob Burrow. I've rarely heard of the RIP people that people mention on here. I live in a bit of a backwater but I do watch the BBC news and I get The Times online but afraid to say I usually just skim through it.

My knee is not so painful this morning. Yesterday I planted my runner beans. I sowed extra incase they didn't come up, but they all came up. Then I planted 1 dahlia and the 2 agapanthus that my son gave me. I still have 2 dahlias and a hebe to plant. I'll make cakes for tomorrow's tea when the vegetable group come, as well.

Oh dear, silly me! Of course I know who Rob Burrow is - he's that lovely Rugby player with motor neurone disease who was so courageous and did so much for charity.
