@pete not seen that plant for decades. Used to have it in my teaching lab. Loved the different colours on the flowers.

Its not a great example but not bad considering it overwintered outside this year.

          Buttercup.
Yes, common, but in the garden nonetheless.

            Common Selfheal.
I've not come across this before, and had to look it up.
Common enough to be part of the "lawn".

We found loads of self heal in our “new” garden too @RowlandsCastle . I think it’s fairly attractive when it flowers. Buttercups are underrated too!

Our "lawn" is made up of bugle, self heal, daisy, speedwell, buttercup, dandelions, plantains, clover, violet and oh yes...some grass! The insects love it and showing the close ups @RowlandsCastle just reinforces how lovely they are.

@amancalledgeorge yet another plant that we had and disappeared some years ago. Great to see the close up of the flowers.

Tutsan. Also known as Bible Leaf, Sweet Amber and Balm of the Warrior's Wounds! It pops up all over my garden, and is quite welcome because it brightens up a steep, shady slope where not much else wants to grow. 2024-06-06_17-35-50_cropped.jpg

We've been very lucky with ours @onthelevels even had a self seeded patch under our old apple tree. A pink cultivar I tried didn't last long, but probably was in a too challenging location that was too dark.
