With the exception of May this year the last year has been very wet. The last two years have seen very little sun, even in summer.

Windy with almost non-stop rain today and feeling cold at 8C/46F.

    Sunrise: 4.22 am
    Sunset: 10.12 pm

The sunniest month this year, not difficult, but how does it compare with other years?

May wasn't quite as sunny as last year and this month will definitely not be as sunny as last June. The village weather had been published in our village magazine for over 100 years but the family that used to keep the records didn't pass on the equipment when the last record keeper died three years ago. The end of an era.

This is an interesting site to look at.

It certainly didn't feel warm in May here. Comparing my solar panel output, May 2023 gave me 20% more than May this year, which indicates to me it was significantly sunnier and therefore warmer in 2023.

With the forecast low tonight of 4c here it's feeling like a very cold June so far, my plants agree as few are thriving as in a 'normal' June.

We’ve had sun today, but it is not warm. Sometimes we have a blast of heat around Wimbledon time so here’s hoping for that at the end of the month.

As well as gardening, fishing is my hobby, back in the early 1980's whilst waiting for the 16th of June, the old opening day of the season, it snowed in the Midlands, I can remember flowers and leaves covered in a fair coating, luckily it didn't last.

I've just stepped outside and it's cloud here and the temperature is around 10c.

The house has been feeling cold and chilly the last week or so, but I refuse to turn the heating on

Bright but a mix of sun, cloud and showers, much like the last few days. O'night low of 8 again, and 10 degrees just now [approx. 8.10 am] with a predicted high of about 13. Winds are a bit more normal, with gusts around low 20mph.
I had to alter the low setting on the thermostat @hamesy. The heating was kicking in because the indoor temps were 15 or below. I'm not putting heating on either!

Yesterday turned out to be another mix of squally showers [heavy at times] and sun/cloud. The high was 14 degrees, and it was lovely in the sun, as the breeze made it more comfortable.

Hazy sun, calm, 17c going to 23/24c with the chance of showers. I imagine these showers will be like the non-existent ones we've had for the past three days!:rolleyespink:

For a few days the heating has come on in the morning.
Sunny intervals and a gentle breeze from the west north west temp 12c feels like 11c.

Not as cold overnight as forecast, recorded 7.5c in the greenhouse.

A nice sunny start to the day, 16c now, might get overnight rain.

We keep a black book of weather. It is a manual record in grid form. One box for each month. So for May just gone I have recorded "Wet and dull". The record goes back decades. FYI May 2020 was "roasting and clear blue skies". 2018 was "V. hot, then cold, then roasting, lovely". June last year reads "V. hot start, hottest since 1940". It shows very variable weather.

Today should be overcast, which is ideal for using the very long loppers.
