I had a health check on Mon. My first since my health scare last June.
    Basically I need to eat
No salt to protect my heart.
    No sugar to avoid diabetes.
No fat to keep my cholesterol level down.
Minimal carbs. to keep my weight down.
I apparently have a steady pulse, plenty of oxygen in my blood stream and my BP is a good level.
    116/60.
Smile, keep taking the tablets and carry on until I die of starvation.
I now await the blood and urine test results.

A sensible diet allows all things in moderation. Without fat in their diet, people die., and the same is true of carbs and salt.

As I have an ileostomy I have to remember to keep my salt levels up. Occasionally I feel unwell, remember I haven’t been dipping into the salt pot and a pinch or two usually sorts me out.

Hello folks, drizzly and chilly here and I'm feeling tired after our long journey home yesterday, so taking it easy.
I think the GP is right @Punkdoc , and you appear to be managing the reduction in pills ok. I thought last night that it might be helpful and certainly encouraging if you were to put a gold star on your calendar for your good days in the hope that the more you see, the better you will feel (sounds barmy but I'm assured it works by my daughter who's fighting much the same kind of battle).
          Great news @Tui34 .
So pleased you enjoyed the day @RowlandsCastle. My OH was treated to a lunch do there many years ago and came back with a House of Commons Teddy for me!
Thought I might try the 5-2 diet but need to get the book for the recipes, hints and tips first. I've also got annual health review coming up @Goldenlily26 so I expect I'll get the same advice!
          Happy Birthday @pattie.
I've posted an urgent query on possible potato blight on another thread so if anybody can help, thanks in advance.
Enjoy the rest of the day everybody.

@Ladybird4 , yep, seen those wine glass charms sold many years ago. decided I did not want to be bothered with more trinkets to keep track of. Anyway, in 1979 first marriage, got a nice set of wine glasses, 6 of them, 2 are left. but have two other different sets in my cupboard, and I believe one set of new in the basement. Also at the airbnb have 8 here ready, and a box more in the locked closet waiting. so far folks have been good. I go to a thrift shop, and find some beautiful ones at ONE Dollar each, some are cut glass too. Recently got a brandy sniffer for One dollar, lonely one, saw the mark on it, looked it up, new would have been 85 dollars each.

Thursday, still at our airbnb. Yesterday took a break and roamed about to a town two hour drive away. We went because we hear that its the next hot spot for house buying, and wondered why. A very historic town indeed, houses dating back to 1750's. But we decided much to congested and the town our airbnb is in is perfect. Had some lovely lunch and dinner's out.
Today back to the grind, more staining the deck railings, some cleaning things, organizing. etc. But the cleaners are doing a grand job.
Discovered I have a gardenia shrub right in the front of the porch, and its blooming.
Husband is determined to catch fish off our dock this week, as prior male guests boasted their catches. So far, no luck, and he's been at it for 3 days now. We have two rod holders on one of the pilings.
Couple years ago, I found a sweet foot stool at an auction, cleaned it up, all new padding and outdoor covering, really cute. You'd think folks would "take their dirty shoes off first" before putting their feet on it. SMH. We have two more sets of guests coming in the balance of the month.
Anyway, away I go. Take care all.

I considered doing something similar for my wife, but, my jacket pocket wasn't large enough to hide one.

Good afternoon everyone. @Dovefromabove, thank you for providing that link it is, indeed, a sobering report and it certainly resonates with us at the Trussell Trust Food Bank we volunteer at. We do provide so much more than food. We have stocks of every type of hygiene product as well as pet foods. The numbers were down today - which is such a cheerful thing for us as we would like to see the disappearance of Food Banks altogether. We have trained staff who can work with homeless people to direct them to where to find shelter and who will work in helping them find any entitlements they may deserve.
A happy birthday to @Blue arbour's OH too:

Hugs for you @Punkdoc … I suspect you thought the GP would say something along those lines .., but I also suspect that talking it through with him may have helped to process the thoughts and formulate and rationalise options.

For anyone else on psychiatric meds and considering reducing them there’s good advice here and while we know that mental health support is sadly poor at the moment, there are details of some routes that can be tried Planning for withdrawal - coming off medication

Time for bed now. The new tv arrives tomorrow
