Words that get on your nerves

We love that!

 

Listening to an irritating conversation on the car radio today. Those that can't complete a sentence without " y'know ". I lost count of the amount of times it was said.

 

Did they start all their sentences with "So... " as well?

 

The "you know" thing is difficult. I noticed a colleague doing it, the words are barely recognisable more like a grunt "uh-uh" and I got really distracted from paying attention to what he was saying. Then when replying I listened to myself and realised to my horror that I do it too!

 

No, not on this occasion.

 

Words that put me off packaged food or recipes
'Added Succulence' =we've pumped the meat full of water and chemicals which will leach out when you cook it. You have also paid for the added weight of the water.
'Washed down with a cup of tea/ beer/ wine' - gross!
'to mop up the juices' - yuk!I
'butter enriched '
' Limited edition' - we've bought the company, changed the recipe and now nobody wants to buy the original so we've come up with new flavours to mask the cheap ingredients
'pulled' - slivers of slimy meat to pick out of your teeth
'smoked' dipped in smoke flavoured chemicals that smell like a steelworks

 

Before "Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em" "harrassment" had the emphasis on the 1st syllable. Ever since that programme the emphasis has been on the 2nd syllable. It was funny in the sitcom but now I find it irritating.

 

its not any words. its high pitch voices.

I'm a bit deaf. That helps. I also practise my lip reading having hit the mute button .
Squeaky voices and background music. If your programme needs background music to get over your point, you're incompetent or lazy.
I think, in the olden days, people were trained to project their voice rather than squeak from their throat. The squeaking is bad for the vocal chords
