The Ukraine war is not about money, it is about an insane megalomaniac, who would happily bankrupt his own country to get what he wants.
Unfortunately if we want to help Ukraine, we [ the West ] would have to be prepared to go to war with Russia, and that probably means game over, for all of us.

Dont get me wrong I see your point, I just dont think it is a practical solution how things are.
Its one of those things that work in theory but putting into practice is another matter.

I know that I'm a bit slow on the uptake these days, and I've only just realised that if the Labour party do as well in the general election as some sources are predicting, then the main opposition party in Westminster will be the SNP.
            How ironic would that be?!!

Depends how well the SNP does! ;)

Labour in power with the Lib Dems as the main opposition might be an interesting combo. It would certainly be nice to see some co-operation between parties in the HoC as it would mean stuff could actually get done.

If Labour are in power, they won't need to cooperate with any other party. Nor will all the other parties cooperating make any difference to results.
But I agree, cooperation between parties would be a great idea. So we need a hung parliament. However, look what happened in 2010. The best way would be for Conservative and Labour to work together. Divisiveness is something this country could do without.

Conservatives and Labour can never work together as their aims are too far apart. But Labour and Lib Dems could. So, if the Lib Dems were the official opposition, parliament could be less about sniping and point scoring and more about actually getting things over the line and acted upon. We pay the salaries of all MPs and yet they spend their time thwarting each other. Ridiculous.

Totally agree, @ViewAhead, Labour and the Lib Dems. could be an interesting proposition. I am hoping for a wipe out for the SNP, Nationalism is a scourge on the world at present [ being half Scots, I feel entitled to hold this view ]
I don't think a super majority for Labour would be great, too many opportunities for the remaining Corbynites to cause trouble.
Hung parliaments just ensure nothing gets done.

Just a small moan. Was shopping earlier on and saw in their 'Free From' section a packet of sugar/sweetener (Splenda) with the word in very big letters 'Stevia'. That's a very good sweetener made from a herb (used to grow it). I then looked at the ingredients and it said it is 99.8% Xylitol (a natural sweetener usually made from tree bark.

So the advertised ingredient is only 0.02% of the total :wallbanging:. So don't buy it.

I think what we need is a proper system of proportional representation. That way all that fiddling around with constituency boundaries could stop, there'd never be one party with a big majority of MPs, and it would (or should?) become the norm for them to work together.

I'm sick to death of all of them and the endless coverage of it.

On a slightly different tack - windows were washed on Wednesday.
By Thursday lunchtime, the magpies had covered the middle one in the lounge with a nice 8 inch long 'evacuation'.
I'll have to get the washing brush and bucket out.
                          Sigh....
