I've been noticing a lot of snake oil and we'll sort your mental health problem adverts on television. They used to be banned. What's going on? Is it yet another benefit of Brexit?

Usually it turns out to be the same party - but not always.

Up until this coming election, and for the last 50+ years, I have always known almost all of the candidates. I know none of this current lot and the current MP, a superb constituency MP, is standing down after fourteen years.

Being involved in a lot of organisations and charities locally I have found it necessary to try and pick the most suitable candidate. What party they belong to is also one of the deciding factors but not necessarily the most important. So some of the questions I ask are about national policy attitudes and some are about local ones.

Remind me not to ask you to campaign for me if I ever stand for parliament. :loll:

I think you should be OK unless you have a cocaine habit to maintain.

Pity me and give me some compassion points please. For the first time I have succumbed to Covid and have totally wasted the weekend in bed, feeling awfully sorry for my poor self :cry3:

Today was a no- brainer not to work with no brain to make sense of the simplest tasks. Anyways, the fever is down now so perhaps there is a slight chance of pulling through. :noidea:

On this topic, last summer we discovered (thanks to the £2 bus fare cap) a village nearby called "Pity Me". Pity Me - Wikipedia

Now how intriguing is that? :)

Sorry to hear that the Covid has finally caught you, Selleri. Yes, it’s still around.

British place names. We used to visit somebody who lived in a place called Pratt’s Bottom. Used to phone them up and ask, just for fun, where they were. “I’m still in Pratt’s Bottom” was always a winner.

Hope you feel better soon, @Selleri.

Did you notice, at the bottom of the Wikipedia article on "Pity Me", a reference to a nearby village called "No Name"? I wonder if it's on a bus route...

My cousin lived in a road called Slack Top, in Heptonstall, west Yorks. His dad lived half a mile away, in Slack Bottom.

If I remember correctly, the river Piddle runs through Little Piddle.
