It sure is ladybird. Luckily, Hubby is handy at bringing in armloads of wood. There’s light misty rain/drizzle outside, and low cloud on our hills, so we can’t tell if it’s rain or sleet. It’s cold enough for sleet. They’ve been getting good snow falls in the skiing areas.

@PatE, I had a little shiver then just reading your post. Its quite bright here and I think it will turn into a nice day. Of course after today, we have to remember that the nights will start drawing in! :)

We had an interesting afternoon yesterday … visiting the Outpost Gallery in Norwich which is run by a committee of current and ex art students … it was their 20th Anniversary show with lots of reference to former exhibitions including OHs … we had an interesting chat with two students who were invigilating and left them with details about OH’s forthcoming show which they were quite excited about visiting … not just for the work but also the venue … a former Cold War air base on the Suffolk coast. After that a wander through the art school grounds and down Elm Hill to the Ribs of Beef for a pint by the river watching the swans and cygnets, before coming home and watching the Draper Alcaraz match which I’d recorded … I’d a feeling it was going to be a good one [IMG]

That made me laugh Blurjayway. Thanks. The light has gone now at 6.20, so don’t know what is happening outside. Don’t want to know either. Pixel is being very snuggly.

Morning all, a calmer day here I hope after yesterday. We were on the motorway in absolute torrential rain it was madness and no speed restrictions either. Where abouts are you @Topbird? The weather should be better from now on but not hot!

Morning, all. Just had a quick read back through, sounds like the weather elsewhere has been both mixed and extreme. So sorry for your loss and the upsetting and frustrating day you had subsequently, @Badly_Maintained.
I had the shudders reading your account, @Topbird. Remembering camping and campervan holidays when we were young and adventurous. Lots of mud involved, and I really hated the late at night searches for somewhere to set up camp.
We had a lovely day yesterday. I weeded the walkway round the back of the house, and swept up at the leaves, while OH gave some of the grass another cut. I’ve left the wild strawberries which have self seeded at the edge of the grass. Watched a squirrel today having a feast on the fruits.
The green bins are almost full, so no panic for Tuesday. I have my eye on a big clump of ornamental grass which is in totally the wrong place. The only thing it is contributing is making that area of garden look truly unkempt, so I shall have a go at getting it out. Don’t think I’d better use the mattock, my tool of choice, but might be able to make some progress with the trenching hoe.
OH will be watching the Formula 1 practice, but no doubt will find some other sport to distract him.

                  Good morning all,

                  Thank-you for your kind words @Punkdoc , @AuntyRach , @lizzie27 , @Blue arbour , @Topbird , @Ladybird4 , @Busy-Lizzie & @Ergates .

I very much hope that the weather improves for you @Topbird , and that you are able to have a very enjoyable holiday.

My MRI scan will now take place on Monday. Further good news is that the weather yesterday evening finally became pleasantly warm, and is continuing in that vein today.

Could I possibly interest Sir/Madam in some workmanlike photos of incompetently-grown annuals? (The self-sown Shirley poppies were competently grown by nature :))

Glad you have a new early appt @Badly_Maintained. Thank you for the cheery flower pics - big fan of self sown flowers here. I have a clump of sulphurous yellow self-seeded Welsh poppies next to a clump of ditto bright orange ones next to a couple of clumps of bright pink hardy geraniums. According to the colour experts that should look cheap, tacky and horrendously garish. It actually looks very bright, jolly and gay. No doubt a lot of blue and deepest purple from other geraniums and salvias helps tone it down a tad - and the bright green foliage and dainty white flowers of s.s'ded feverfew provides a tasteful backdrop. All mixed in together it looks fab (IMO!).

Where are we? Now that is a very good question... We're midway between Chateauroux to the north and Limoges to the south, about 150 miles east of Poitiers. As I said - middle of nowhere! But it's flat for cycling. OH doesn't like hills. It's not so bad in Germany where nearly every road has a cycle path alongside but that's not the case in France. Struggling up a hill with a lorry or van right on your tail is no fun at all!

Lots more rain through the night and vehicles struggling to move round the site today so we're staying put for now. For the moment it's sunny and dry (not in the forecast!) with a stiff breeze which might help to dry things out. Sunday is now looking like the start of a drier warmer period. Hooray. Meantime, g&t's, French wine, a restaurant on site, some nice food and a stock of books and films should keep us entertained for a couple of days while we sit it out.

Morning all. Friday, 7:47Am here, 75 degrees.
My hydrangeas are blooming crazy now, along with Bee Palm, and hosta's.
Find it neat how May Apples still are standing nice all these months, showing a little tinge of yellow . To hot to do any real "tidy" up in the beds.
We are off on a drive to meet up with a guy that wants to buy a bunch of our car parts left over from our corvette, (C2,1964) about an hour and 30 min drive. He's meeting us half way. So back of our SUV is loaded with boxes and parts. The parts are posted on Facebook Market Place. Been posting lots of other things on Facebook Market Place, the other day sold some antique wrenches to a guy, meet up with him 5 mins away. Have sold collectors Beer Steins and hub caps, as an example. Our mutual goal to get rid of stuff. We do take things to auction houses. And also put on line in groups of like interest to the products we have.
Will find an interesting place there for lunch.
Finally I am feeling more rested from our week away. Still not perfect, must be the age factor. But I hear husband complaining how tired he still is.
Well, off to get ready. Take care all.

Just had a text from our lovely NDNs. They’re in hospital after a car crash! No really serious injuries but she is being kept in … he is having ‘daycare’.

We’re waiting to hear if there’s anything we can do. They have cats which are presumably indoors as I think neighbours had been out on their boat on the Broads.

Their daughter is in Australia but chef son is in East Anglia … Horrid thing to have happened.
