Neither party is a particularly attractive option, but there are currently no other viable options. Both will have to raise taxes one way or another or borrow a lot more money. Neither have proposed an effective way to stop the boats landing on the beaches and there probably isn't one that is morally acceptable.
Neither have much idea on funding social care for an aging population or how they are going to find the required workers once they cut back further on work visas. One thing I can guarantee is that they will not be encouraging their children to take up jobs in care homes or pick fruit and vegetables.

I wouldn't expect them to, just as you wouldn't expect the Bank of England to treat you after a stroke or heart attack.

Well I was thinking maybe you could just change this one.
Who was it that said there is so such thing as Bad publicity?

It seems to be working here.

To become a politician at national level, especially a party leader, you need a degree of wealth - therefore the vast majority of politicians are wealthy. Those who aren't, soon become wealthy when they learn the tricks to buy and sell property etc...

I'm not really into the politics of envy if I am honest - if someone is well off, then fair play to them, as long as they've not fleeced it out of public funds of course.

There is never going to be any party that 100% represents our views - and even if and when we do find a party that is reasonably close, chances are they are going to duck, dive and lie to wriggle their way through to the next election having delivered the grand total of bugger all of their promises.

I know one thing for sure - I am absolutely sick to the back teeth of being taken for a mug by government and government agencies at almost every level. Speaking to others, I know I am not alone.

P.T. Barnum once said, “There’s no such thing as bad publicity,” which is almost as good as Oscar Wilde’s version, who put it like this: “There’s only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about.”

There are very very vocal politicians out there who we all know about because they are in the news every single day, saying provocative things. I won't glorify them by naming them (one in particular stands out) that I'd hope it is obvious. We have not an iota of evidence that they have the slightest clue how to run a country. They are just a populist.

Their attempts to make themselves the story are entirely calculated and planned, they say things that are controversial in that it is very hard to say for sure one way or the other so they get people talking endlessly going over "well, he probably has a point" but the intention is to mislead and distract while their rich donors rake in profits from the outrage-bait they provide, which provides a lot of ad revenue.

I can't believe some of the things I am reading on here.
It has always been said: " that we get the politicians we deserve", and I can see why.
Let's pull up the drawbridge, send all the foreigners to Rwanda, and for good measure, let's invade France.

I would guess that some people with opposing views think exactly the same. :noidea:

Isn't it lovely to have a diverse set of views. :heehee:

It would be very boring if we all thought exactly the same about everything. :)
