My toms have a slight purple tinge and they are in the greenhouse with the heating set to 10c.

Having read the previous few posts I am obviously not alone in having purple tomatoes. I have presumed wrongly that those in the south would be faring a good deal better than I am, being north of The Border. This is the worst my tender veg has been since starting to grow them. Are others in a similar situation? Looking back at photos a few years ago I had some tomatoes flowering by the end of April,I will be lucky if I have them flowering by the end of May!

It was warming up down here for a while and it felt like spring, but since its turned dryer its also turned colder with north east winds, about two weeks of it now.

It will probably end one day but might be June before spring really starts, it was warmer in January than some days have been.

I know of folks in Italy complaining their tomatoes have stalled. Mind you I had a look back and they were a tad early planting, last week in April was the norm for us for planting outside toms, peppers and the like.

My toms and peppers are taller and weaker than they were last year at this time as I was able to put them outside during the day quite a bit. Only managed twice this year so far. We have two nights of light frost forecast then nights at least will hopefully be a bit warmer. Last year we did have three nights of frost end of April which did for the early growth of my potatoes, I've just covered them with straw, cardboard and fleece to hopefully save the foliage

My tomatoes have been in the greenhouse, no heating just fleece/newspaper, since end of March and no purple tinge anywhere, min temp c4 - 5°C.

I have ripe sweet peppers! I'll be careful not to eat them all at once. ;) PXL_20240609_130004464~2.jpg

                  Hi @eatenbyweasels
Nice one. I've grown all sorts of sweet peppers in the GH over the years but, perhaps surprisingly, had the best results from growing the seed taken from supermarket peppers.
The only commercial seed I've tried which equalled them were Golden Bell, but got fed up of only yellow ones!
Just take the seeds (they come true to colour) from a fresh pepper and sow as usual.

... and it seems they are not going to grow up. They are very tasty.
