    108: PFI

When our constituency went blue in 2017, one of first things they did was to secure a termination agreement of the PFI agreement. The PFI was costing the local council 1.7m a year and was seen as the worst PFI deal in history. The deal was seen as so bad, that the council would on never owned the headquarters in 2029 on the 25 year deal, without the termination the council could of been saddled with these repayments for a further 16 years.

The old buildings that we were told would be redeveloped took 13 years before the empty buildings were demolished. The new developments would of included a hotel and apartments, yet all we have is a temporary carpark. When we had a labour MP with a labour government, plus a majority of labour councillors all we got was these huge PFI repayments which was the start of the town's demise.

Having a Tory MP, with labour controlled councillors, just gave us more of the same, bull. She managed to terminate the burden of this PFI that labour failed to and we probably would still be paying the debt if we stayed Red.

Yes, I suspect racism is behind most of the hatred for Khan. In a choice between gin and Boris the buffoon, I know who I would choose.
But who would @Banana Man want and why?u
So, @gks it should be easy to tell me some good things the Tories have done.

Why, or have you came to the conclusion I am and have been a Tory voter?

Should it be made mandatory for MP's to live in the area they are standing in?

The Labour, Green & Tory candidates for our area live elsewhere, and I am not convinced that they have a clue what is going on. The Lib Dem candidate is a local councillor currently and does live in the area, but didn't like it too much when I asked him if he'd taken a wander around his current patch to see the state of it, and asked him to persuade me to vote for him.... didn't really get much of an answer.

It should be mandatory for them to live on new build estates, IMV.

My MP has multiple houses - here, London, France, Portugal. Those are just the ones last time I checked.

Not sure where my MP lives.
I dont think these people have a clue about the constituency they represent, its all about the party.
That's political party not the Boris covid party.

Therein lies the problem for me - that is why we end up with people who are more interested in what is happening in other countries than they are about what is happening to the people they are supposed to be representing.

Lets face it, their lives are a million miles away from mine, I cant get my head around how bad it must be sleeping on the streets, so how can they understand how I live.
