All I want to know is ... when does it end? My tennis coverage got shortened yesterday to accommodate a match.

 

I think a lot of our footballers are daunted by the criticism they get if they make what is seen as a mistake … back in the day you’d see goals being scored from further out by players grabbing a chance … now they seem to push the ball back and forth between themselves trying to get closer and closer to the goal. What about a ball screaming past their ears from outside the penalty area and into the top corner of the net … how good would it be to see a few attempts like that …

ETA I’ve just found this … seems I’m not the only one who thinks this … are they ‘over coached’ in the Premier League ?

Other teams can do it Euro 2024 goals from long distance buck the trend and the football has been so much better for it

 

But have they won them? In tennis you can't drift off after 90 mins claiming a draw. You fight to the end. That's proper sport, not all this "have another go next time" nonsense.

 

As a lifelong THFC supporter, I am used to disappointment and can only in the dim and distant past remember triumph, but there is always next season.

 

Tennis is one-to-one combat, requiring supreme physical skill and stamina, outstanding reaction and co-ordination, plus a shed-load of court intelligence. No team to fall back on. Just you ... and a ball travelling at incredible speed.

Tie-breaks are a heck of a lot more exciting than penalty shoot-outs, I'd say.
