I like tennis but I'm not well up on the players these days, as for cricket I've never been into that but I do like the 20 20 format, it's much more exciting than test matches in my view or county cricket.
As to rugby, well it could be interesting if they didn't keep stopping for fouls that half the time happened 5 minutes ago.

When you've cleaned the inside window you then know that you have to do it all over again on the outside

I used to watch tennis when there were skillful players like Rod Laver and Ken Rosewall. I find the modern mens game boring, it's all about who can serve the fastest, they even have a ball speed monitor for geeks sake! The women's game is unbearable with all the grunting, "oh I say" as Dan would undoubtedly say about it.

It's a completely different game now, it started with the brat John McEnroe and has been going downhill ever since.

I hate the grunting too. And I liked the old wooden racquets. Banging down serves does not make for interesting play to watch, IMV. I would like to see the rules changed to one serve only, preceded by one bounce only. I'd also like the racquet head size to be reduced, which makes the sweet spot smaller, requiring more varied court positioning to get slice and spin winners.

I kind of liked tennis in the Borg era,I think it was the same time as Mc Enroe, Nastasie and a few other characters I can't remember.
You need someone to hate, if you don't care who wins its pointless watching it.

I liked Nadal and the Swiss bloke, for some reason I can't think of his name .

Anyone remember Stan Smith, now he was boring.

I can remember reading an article about all sports where they worked out how much it cost a spectator to watch per minute based on the lowest admission ticket price. I was very surprised at how little time a ball is in play in a tennis match.

A match that Andy Murray played lasted approximately 170 minutes with the ball being in play for about 15% of that time 26 minutes. When based on the ticket cost, it worked out more expensive per minute of action compared to a top flight football match.

I like going to watch our local Speedway, which is two teams of 7 riders who compete in 15 x 4 lap heats. Each heat only last roughly 55 seconds, so basically for 15 minutes action it works out at £1.20 per minute at our local track, with a meeting lasting on average 90 minutes. The longest time I have been at a meeting was 3hr 45 minutes, due to a couple of bad accidents. The meeting can not restart until there is enough medical staff at the venue. So when a rider needs immediate hospital treatment, the meeting can not re-commence until another ambulance and DR is in attendance, which is fully understandable, the same applies if a spectator needs medical attention.

Not all enjoyment can be measured like that … come and listen to our choir’s concert on Saturday (free admission with a retiring collection for the air ambulance)!or go to the opera at Covent Garden … we’re definitely cheaper … but will we provide the same level of entertainment … we might … you’ll only know which is the best value if you come along

I do think Federer played a beautiful game, but the players I like watching are not necessarily the top ones. The men's Slams have been dominated by a few. If Djokovic does not play Wimbledon this yr, it will be the first time since 1998 that at least one, and usually all 4, of the Federer/Nadal/Djokovic/Murray quartet is not there.
