Just got back from holiday and all my garlic has got rust. It was autumn planted so the bulbs are quite well established. Is it OK to just leave it or do I need to get them out of the ground?

Assuming it's just on the leaves? If they are bad cut them off and dispose (not compost). This close to harvest (we have half up) hopefully you are okay.

I get it on mine most years, but not this year for some reason.
    I've never bothered about it.

I have had it before but a bit later on. I think the leaves have been watered while we were away by our son not sure if this caused it.

Rust on garlic seems to be normal, just as long as it happens when the garlic is full grown its not really a problem.
