    Good afternoon,

    Not so warm today.

I’ve got some penstemons growing in my garden, too. They are red with white middles, but I can’t remember the variety name. I, too, took cuttings and grew them in pots, which they seem to like.

I like your purple ones @Bluejayway.

No gardening for me today as my back is still playing up. I’m getting fed up with it now, as I can’t whizz about in the way I want to. I’ve just vacuumed downstairs and now know about it.

I hope all plant deliveries arrive safe and sound.

Oh dear @Blue arbour that is not good news about your back. Errr, should you be vacuuming with a bad back? :) Three primulas have arrived safe and sound but I'm still awaiting Heleniums.

Perhaps not @Ladybird, but then I didn’t do any lifting or moving furniture (my OH did that), so I thought a little bit of exercise, moving the vacuum across the floor (it’s cordless, so trip free ), would do it good, as I’ve read that you should try to keep moving about as much as possible. (I do find sitting for any length equally as uncomfortable). Hey ho, I’m sure it will right itself eventually.
Glad your primulas have arrived and that the heleniums won’t be long arriving.

One advantage of pentstemons @Ladybird4 and @Blue arbour is that they are supposedly not attractive to slugs. Definitely an advantage if true but I couldn’t resist adding the copper tape to the pot. Just in case, you understand:rolleyespink:

Better safe than sorry @Bluejayway . Thinking about it, mine seem to be left alone by slugs and snails, whereas the hostas and dahlias are much enjoyed by these pests, given a chance.

Certainly do understand @Bluejayway. Nothing worse than seeing a treasure reduced to a skeleton by the pesky critters.

Wednesday. Still in New Bern, NC. leaving tomorrow morning for drive West to Forest City, NC. getting house ready for guest to arrive tomorrow to leave Sunday.
We might be back after the stay in Forest City, NC, where we are meeting up with Nephew and family to watch him/them participate in Jet ski races. who invents these things. Yep, they have their own Jet Skies, he will be transporting all of them on a truck driving 8 hours from Gulfport, Miss. I have known this young nephew of 40 years old now since he was 9 years old, now he has a 9 year old son who is a spoiled highly achievement brat. But I love to irritate him. The 9 year old likes to play chess
and I have to beat him, to help notch him down a little and to feel its ok to loose at something, his parents tell me beat him. Children who get straight A's too often find overwhelming frustrations in life as an adult when they find out they can't succeed in everything. Later.

We are back from a delicious lunch. That pub restaurant never lets us down and reserves our favourite table. On the way there was a huge stream of traffic going in the opposite direction. Not going - it was at a standstill. A group of people arrived late, just as we were leaving, and they'd been stuck, they said there was an overturned lorry at a roundabout. We went home a different way, a bit longer but showed us some pretty countryside that we hadn't seen before.

Here is a hoot. A few of our prior guests "claim" they caught fish off our dock. Husband goal now is to catch some. He's been trying so diligently last two of our visits. NO luck. LOL. He even sets up rigs for the overnight, and goes out at 3Am to check. Nothing. Poor guy.

@Busy-Lizzie, it was a good job that you had an alternative route and, as you said, a great way to see some beautiful countryside. I love the flatness of East Anglia and the fact it is unspoilt by motorways.
@redstar, I think you need to put a little note in your visitors book asking for proof of catches in the form of a picture. Give your OH his due, he's a trier!

Afternoon all, cloudy with some drizzle today so work on the garden has been suspended.
Went into town with OH instead, I had to return some faulty earrings and OH wanted some new clothes. We had coffee and shared a cake, reckon I walked my half off on the way home. Pleased that I have lost more weight on the 5-2 diet - albeit very slowly (probably because of cakes!).

@Busy-Lizzie, glad you enjoyed your lunch out, sounds a really nice pub/restaurant.

@redstar, enjoy your trip to Forest City, NC (North Carolina?) and the family get-together. Funny about the fishing, as Ladybird4 says, pictures are proof!

Penstemons do seem to be safe from slug/snail attacks, I have several in this garden (or did have until I lost them last year) but the old favourite 'Garnet' is still going and full of blooms right now.
