OH has just been to vote, he lives in Norfolk. Current MP is Liz Truss :yikes:

I live in France. Although I am now allowed to vote at last, law changed about ex-pats, I won't be voting. The online form was complicated and I had to have proof of where I was living before I went to France in 1985. I've moved 3 times since that house and the paperwork is probably in a box in the loft.

Ah, yes, must be alphabetical surnames, not parties. In that case, local party committees would be best to choose their candidate bearing this in mind!

Oh, I personally do so hope at least some of these smug, entitled MPs are booted out. Just my view ... and I realise they will have their supporters.

I think this sums up how old fashioned our system is, it harps back to the days of your MP being someone you looked up to and he knew what was best for you.
He had the education and most of his followers didn't.

I wonder how many voters today would be happy if the person they voted for decides to defect to another party in two weeks time.
It wont happen but its possible.

Sometimes it's better the devil you know though.
Our MP is almost certainly going after 14 years; he's a Tory and not great at promoting what he's done but has been consistent and actually delivered a few great things for the area (I was very surprised!). His defacto replacement is a lib dem who is riding high on local election wins but comes across to me as an idiot schoolboy that hasn't the depth, charisma or experience to be an MP.
        Will he be any good?

The younger ones need a chance to learn the skills. If not, you end up with a couple of doddery old geezers accusing each other of being doddery old geezers

Time will presumably tell, though as neither are likely to be from the majority party, what they can achieve would necessarily be limited by the circumstance of being in opposition.

A list of all the expected declaration times, in case anyone wants to stay up all night. Of course, any close results may be delayed by recounts.

Jeremy Hunt is one I will genuinely celebrate if he loses his seat - takeaway and some wine corks popping for sure.

Well if the recent local elections have shown anything, they'll accomplish f'all but shout from the rooftops about how amazing they are

And, for once, they are both telling the unvarnished truth.

The pressure on Biden is growing. Shame they can't both be ditched in some sort of two-for-one deal.

Our MP has been a good constituency MP for 14 years and has stepped down (serious health reasons) and our prospective candidate worked for him for all those 14 years ending up running his office. That seems a reasonable amount of experience. Doesn't mean they will win the seat.

Names on ballot papers are on the list in alphabetical order of surname. So Mr Aardvark could be leading all the others on the list. :heehee:
