Things have come to a pretty pass if pink tie is considered to be the best of the bunch.

 

There is a Count Binface Count Binface standing against the Prime Minister.

 

Just my own view…
The country is broke, up to its eyeballs in debt. I don’t think a change of government is going to result in meaningful changes to our everyday lives, merely a change in emphasis. I think that if ‘we’ really want change, it comes at a price. I for one would be prepared to pay more (tax) for better/decent services, but it seems that none of the big two want to grasp the nettle.

 

Tories played a blinder, call an election with not a cat in hell's chance of winning, and leave Labour to pick up the pieces (which they will not be able to) then take back what is left of the Country mid term of Labour
Labour now have a 3 trillion pound bill to reduce, which will be tax, tax and tax

 

So, how would you solve the problem?

Our Tory MP has been deselected and the Labour candidate won. I can't complain about the Tory MP who helped not only us personally during a dispute with the council, but he also played his part when another company took over when Honda left.
Two years ago the Tory council had closed the subways at a nearby roundabout, and we got new, nice pedestrian crossings.
I was in a dispute with that Labour woman a few months ago, when she complained about the pedestrian crossings in a local newspaper. I said to her, do you seriously want to ask the mostly female shift from the nearby hospital to use these awful subways from the 70's in darkness? What about blind people and wheelchair users who can't cross the road if the tunnels are flooded as soon as it rains (and that after the last winter !), and have to go a mile down the road to find the next pedestrian crossing?
She replied to me and seriously complained that Labour has now to work. "I wish the Tories hadn't left us work to do" so her words.
I finished that discussion with letting her know that rather turning good into bad things, I would suggest Labour concentrates on making things better, and if she doesn't want to do the work, she shouldn't apply for any job.
What I found astonishing that her entire attitude was like she was stuck in the 70's, the time when women and disabled were left out.
I'm not sad that some Johnson cronies lost. Many of them were so stupid and incapable, that's how the apparatchiks worked in the Soviet-union.
But I'm afraid, Labour is now going the same route that the Social Democrats and Green Party in Germany went 3 years ago. Milliband's "Labour will be the biggest green investment in the world" sounds like the idea of the Green Party in Germany. They wanted to force people to turn their homes into eco houses with the result that around 4 mill pensioners would have been forced to take a 120k EUR credit. What they started in 2021 led to a huge right-wing move when uncontrolled immigration was supported by the government at the same time and people started saying, "first you took our money, now you want to make us homeless".

 

I have been part of history. The safest of safe Tory seats has swung to the Lib Dems. A 21,000 majority gone.

Lib Dems - 25,514 seats
Cons - 13,368

That is quite a turn around.

 

Could start with the weather! Gonna be a soggy entrance into Downing Street, much like Sunak's election announcement.

 

You certainly have a point. A difficult inheritance, for sure.
