First earlier, four seeds in 30l bucket. Not very happy with this, although these are my first ever potatoes, so always something! I think next year I'll try with 3 seeds and I definitely need to pay more attention to watering. They didn't flower at all, the foliage just started dying. Is that normal?

The foliage shouldn't be dying away yet on early potatoes. It's most likely a sign of under watering or lack of feed. They need watering at least once a day during hot weather in containers. I'm watering every other day during this cooler dull weather.

Water till it comes out the bottom. Stand in big saucers to catch the overflow.

They don't always flower, depends on the variety and the season. My first early didn't flower. My maincrop are starting to flower now.

I definitely didn't water them enough then. There was a few more, but tiny (2p coin tiny). Lesson learned :)

Harvested 1 root of first early enough for 2 meals. Happy days!

Hi @infradig, sorry for my late response, but I wasn't around last week or so. It's already mixed, you just need to dilute prepared powder and spray. I'll go tomorrow to cottage and take photo of Bouillie Bordelaise.

I think its what we used to call Bordeaux mix which was withdrawn from approval in 2013, another casualty to Eurothink.
Knowing that Croatia joined in 2011, one wonders why its available to you ?

Its still available in France I think the others were saying.

Its probably again an example of the UK sticking rigidly to EU rules and everyone else just not taking any notice.

I think it's only banned for amateur use in the UK.

Hi all. It is Bordeaux mix, and I'm sure it's allowed in Croatia, Italy, France, Germany and Austria. For others EU members I don't know. Here is also available in amateur use same as in Austria. It's especially toxic for sheep and water animals.

I sprayed my potato fields and it saved my crop this year. My neighbor has blight. Every week or so we have a day of rain and immediately very high temperatures, perfect condition for develop blight. I also noticed that it didn't killed insects, ladybugs, grasshoppers, and my favorite spiders:thud:.

BB is not allowed in France anymore - neither is weed killer with glysophate. Only available on a agricultural level i.e. grape growers...

                    It is allowed in Spain.

Morning all. Thank you @Tui34 for that info. Weed killers are not allowed here for amateur use.
Here are photos of Bordeaux mix. It's produced in Italy, and it even has a sign "Allowed in eco gardens". Sign is a little ladybug in right upper corner. It's easy to prepare, and you need 1.5% solution. I put 150g in 10l bucket, stir and pour in sprayer.

I bought some new potatoes from a supermarket called Jazzy. They were delicious so I planted some in containers. They are now and looking well so fingers crossed I have a few more to eat eventually.
I will have to have a furtle to feel if there are any growing below the surface of the soil.

I couldn't resist yesterday and dug out two potato plants. It's a man crop and it will grow at least one more month, but potatoes are already decent size.

And here is difference between my and my neighbor potato. I sprayed with Bordeaux mix and he didn't.
