    Miserable here too, @Ladybird4
I sometimes wonder if my dear hub is ever paying attention.
I clearly wasn't, when I picked up a pack of 4 ripe and ready peaches, because the checkout lady spotted one of them was mouldy. Hub was despatched to get a replacement, I paid for the shopping (including said peaches) and waited...
Spied him returning, waving pack at the cashier.
Dropped pack into bag, discovered 6 pink apples when we unpacked.

However, he surpassed himself by building up the new BBQ - the guy in the store advised him to allow 2 hours. He's done it in less than that, but not including substantial breaks in between. I guess the guy in the store was young and didn't have any health issues.
However, we have an inaugural BBQ planned tomorrow for just us two!

Made it home at 7PM. Exhausted. Organizing the carried food items in fridge. Eating a small bite. The rest can wait till tomorrow.
Thanks all for the good wishes. Night, Night.

A very good morning one and all. @Obelix-Vendée, I'm not certain that watching tennis is good for my blood pressure but I did watch both mens' semis yesterday. I hope you are happy with the colour of your paint now its dried.
@Penny_Forthem, your Hub has a really good excuse you know - he's a man! :)

@lizzie27, I'm so sorry you were thwarted in your search for your great grandfather's grave. I do not care for driving in strange places and always use Google maps as well as 'I know where you are going!' - which is what I call my Sat Nav. I need to know there is good parking as well.
I forgot to add to my last post @Obelix-Vendée, that you are feeling well enough today to enjoy some fizz.
Good to read you are back home safe @redstar. Bet you slept better in your own bed too.

            Good Morning to all.

If I had been up at ‘work time’ I would have shared my cuppa with a green woodpecker this morning but it has gone now.

Have a pleasant Saturday folks - catch you later.

Took the dog for a walk on grass at last. I do not like the courtesy car, you can steer it with one finger and it feels like being in a plastic box, but it has wheels.

                    Good morning all.

My son and family, 3 daughters, arrive this afternoon. It's Anna's 10th birthday today so I'm about to make a lemon drizzle cake, her favourite. She wants cottage pie for tonight, one of my favourites too.

I must vacuum upstairs and make the last bed, though I have put the cover on the duvet. The children's spare bedroom has bunk beds so the 3rd one will have to be a mattress on the floor.

It seems that now that @Dovefromabove has left there are fewer posts here than there used to be in the morning. Doesn't anyone agree?

                    Glad to see @Goldenlily26 here.

Greetings all. Had a good night's sleep thanks to the anti-cough meds but now I've taken the other my chest feels like it's in a vice and it's cough central. Wonderful. I do hope this isn't a generalised bug spreading all over. OH and Possum immune - so far.

It is cool and much greyer than the forecast indicates. Good gardening weather but I shall have to get on and paint the kitchen bookcase which needs at least 2 more coats to cover the old stencilling and then a few days to "mature" before I put back all the cookery and garden books.

We have guests coming soon too @Busy-Lizzie so I need to put a new fitting on one of the landing lights and tickle the upstairs bathroom but all else is fine. I'm sure one of the GCs will love sleeping on the floor. I'm sure you have lots lined up for them all to do and a great time will be had by all.

It's very quiet round here, given it's Bastille Day tomorrow. Maybe they're all low key cos it's fallen on a Sunday so no extra day off work.

I was about to write 'good morning', when I discovered it was actually after 12!
So, good afternoon to you all.
Enjoy your visitors @Obelix-Vendée (hope you feel better soon) and @Busy-Lizzie
I was ready to trundle down the garden with the washing, when the first drops of rain hit. I can't remember the last day we had without any rain. For the last 12 years, I've kept a 'blog' of our caravan jaunts and I see mentions of cold/wet summers, but this one takes the biscuit so far.
And who were the stupid fools who bought a new BBQ on Thursday? Erm? I'll get me coat...

I can hear my neighbours brushing off their bbq as we speak! I was reading that sales of bbqs, pizza ovens, garden furniture etc are expected to boom today - in addition to bbq food and beer. Something about a football match??

                            Good afternoon,

Not too bad a day weather wise. We’ve had some light drizzle now and again, but mainly it is dry. OH has managed to get both lawns cut anyway.

I’ve just finished some ironing so I’ll make us a sandwich shortly (and dare I say it, but my back seems much better, it’s nearly there, I think).

As I’m typing I’m watching a pair of wood pigeons flying in and out of the magnolia with huge twigs in their beaks, so they are busy building a nest (or doing up an existing one). They are amusing to watch as it takes them an age to decide to actually fly into the tree with their twigs - such dithery birds, no wonder they make easy targets for sparrow hawks.

I hope you enjoy your weekend with your visitors @Obelix-Vendée, and that your nasty cough soon departs.

Well, @Penny_Forthem, I hope you get to use your new barbecue very soon :). No need to get your coat :biggrin:.

I used to know a man in Belgium who insisted on BBQ every Friday evening. Nothing fancy, just supermarket burgers. He was from Yorkshire and was a packaging scientist working for Coca Cola. Belgium has a high rainfall and long, cold winters so most people wait till summer. He had a special umbrella to cook his burgers, week in, week out. He was posted to Atlanta after 2 years - much better for barbies of both kinds I expect.

New BBQ being put through its warm up paces, but it is far too cold to eat out. In fact, I'm sure I saw a polar bear stroll by.
I was most miffed (to put it mildly) to receive a junk letter about a cremation plan. In fact, so miffed was I, that I released my inner child, scribbled all over it and stuffed it back in their reply paid envelope, which caught the midday post. I hope they get my message.
In sad news, the campsite owner's little dog had a massive fit this morning and never recovered. He was only 3. He was a little cutie pie. He loved playing with ours.
