    Good Morning and G’Day all.

    That’s pretty chilly @PatE - keep cosy.

It’s just a couple of juvenile magpies in the garden this morning. The old apple tree has dropped a few little apples so there may be grubs etc for them to forage.

    Have a good Monday everyone.

Morning everybody, unusually for me, I awoke early and fancied a cup of tea. I'm watching he planes go up from Bristol airport, one every few minutes - the airport is certainly getting busier and busier this year.
We've got lots of juvenile magpies in this garden @AuntyRach , they are such a nuisance on the roof chucking bits of moss down every day.
We're forecast heavy rain starting at 8 am and it's certainly getting cloudier as I type - no gardening then and probably the ironing instead. The curse of St Swithin's Day seems highly likely!
      Have a good day anyway.

        Morning all.

We have pigeons in the trees on the drive. My car is in the car port but OH's and son's cars are covered in sh*t!

We are going to the Norfolk Broads today. Forecast says sunny until we are on the boat that I'm hiring.

Morning @Busy-Lizzie. Fingers crossed that you do get a wonderful time on the Broads - whatever the weather throws at you. Maybe some rain will wash the bird poo off the car roofs as well :)

            Morning all,
A lovely start to the day, warm and sunny. Not sure how long it will last but will enjoy it whilst I can.
Yes, I’m well braced @Ladybird4 .

My vacuum cleaner died recently so yesterday I finally got around to ordering a replacement from on line. I found a Henry which sounds as if it meets my need. No excuse for not cleaning. It is an industrial one with an extra long lead. I am wondering if it will reach the car instead of faffing around with an extension lead, I shall soon find out.
I made the mistake of going into the used book sections on Amazon and E-Bay, ended up ordering 4 Beverley Nichols books. I really should know better. 4 reasons to sit and read instead of doing jobs.
My daughter is pleased with her Mouse Hostas and along with my son in law is enjoying her birthday cake.

Hi all. Haven’t been posting on this thread for a while, rather saddened by the departure of some of the regulars. However, I’ve been reading through to keep tabs on what you have all been up to.
Woken to rain this morning, no gardening planned but I have bought an extra plant for the hanging basket outside the front door, and should be able to deal with that without getting soaked.
We have made the most of the relatively pleasant weather, dog sitting for our son, so plenty of walks although it has rather restricted work in the garden. I’ve still managed to dig out quite a lot of brambles, although only about 1% of the total that need removing!
Didn’t watch any tennis or football. OH isn’t a football fan, but might have watching a recording if England had won, so that won’t be happening.
Enjoyed reading about the cakes! Must put ground almonds on the shopping list.

I bought his book Down the Garden Path many years ago in a charity shop. I giggled my way through it many times. Just recently my daughter borrowed it and loved it, then I bought another copy to give to "the other mother in law", my son in law's mother, and she loved it. I recently found Down the Kitchen Sink, another good read. My daughter has just borrowed it.
OMLIL is very much a cat person so I have just bought his ABC of cats which I hope will be as funny, after I have read it, it will be her Christmas present. I am trying to track down his XYZ of Cats at a not extortionate cost to go with it. It seems elusive though.
Much needed enjoyment with all of the despair and horror going on in the world at the moment.

Green Grows the City is another good read, dealing with a town garden this time.
I also love his cat books.

Its lovely to see you back @Ergates. Like @Busy-Lizzie, I missed you too. Love seeing your Camellia picture. I have decide to risk a wash load but whilst I wasn't looking, two plants have shot up and will be in the way of the whirlgig twirling round. One is a teasel and the other is a verbascum. It is only a week since I last washed so how on earth did that happen? I have a never ending battle with brambles - courtesy of the birds who are excellent distributors of seeds and if I dare to turn my back the ivy goes for world dominance.

                              Morning everyone.
I'm off to the chiropodist in a bit and have given my tootsies a good massage in the foot spa. They're all tingly. I dread the thought of presenting smelly feet to my lovely chiropodist! I'm sure they're used to it. Not a job I could do.
Got grandkids after school; there are still some blackcurrants to harvest, so I'm hoping it stays dry. They never seem to bring any outdoor kit!
I've never been to the Broads @Busy-Lizzie. Hope the rain holds off for you.

I have ordered A Village in a Valley, Gift of a Garden, Rhapsody in Green and ABC of Cats. (My first Christmas present for this year.) That should keep me quiet for a day or two! I will add to my collection later, or should I buy them now before they are sold. Hmmmm!

Thanks floralies, I will check them out.
