    Have a weed infestation.

Every time it rains about 2 weeks late there is this thick mat of weed.
Hoeing seems to have no effect - it regrows.

Hand extraction takes Hours - they have long white thread like roots, and I have noticed a great many of them have grown what I can best describe as a translucent carrot root.

What is this weed, and where does it come from.

A real PITA, weedkiller is the only option I have found and even then it can come back.

So the fact not seen it before, means its airborne from somewhere ...... incredible there are thousands of them.
I'm not a far of pesticides .... but is there something specific that will kill this staff and not hurt the vegetables that are growing ?
3 large sackfulls pulled out again yesterday, they certainly grow faster than any of my veg.

Close but mine has different flowers - and matches what NIGELJ posted Pink Wood Sorrel (Oxalis debilis) or possibly Oxalis Latifolia ... can't tell the difference.

Is there any pesticide that is Veg safe I can use ?

Not that one as does not have yellow flowers ... I think it Oxalis Oxalis Latifolia or Oxalis Debilis, either way I don't want it :sick0026:

Doubt you'll find a selective weedkiller that doesn't affect vegetables.

Don't let it run to seed as they have explosive seed pods like the rest of the oxalis family. The seed will shoot out several feet.

Hoeing or pulling by hand are better than weedkilers. The small, yellow flowered one is a serious PITA here, especially in my pots.
