I am on Chrome, so we can probably rule that one out. I wonder if we have anyone else on BT.... @shiney, are you on BT?

My reason for asking by the way is that I have stumbled over a situation at work where some staff, when working from home, if their ISP is Sky or Community Fibre, they cannot access our shared drives. Yet those of us who are on other suppliers, have no issues. Even our IT department don't understand it, despite acknowledging that it is the case.

I'm pretty sure @shiney is on BT and is suffering with the same slow loading issue. Could it be BT?

I use Chrome. Just my email is BT but use Outlook for it and when I need to check with my BT emails I go in to BT with Chrome.

I'm not having much of a problem with access at the moment although being on a long overhead copper cable our internet is slow. It's sufficient for our needs as we don't play games or stream anything.

There was a problem recently but that turned out to be with the BT cabinet a mile away. So BT supply the signal, only thing available here in Shineyland, but use Chrome.

Accessing GC can occasionally be slightly slower than most other sites - but not much slower now. Maybe two or three seconds as opposed to one or two for other sites.

I use Chrome. Anytime I get directed to a site on Edge I leave it as it is always slow.

I have been using artificial sweeteners in tea and coffee for 50 years and have recently started making cakes with Stevia and the like when it's for patchwork as we have a type 1 diabetic member. I also now replace flour with ground almonds for the gluten intolerant.

We eat a healthy diet with proteins, fruits and veggies and some carbs, usually wholemeal, so lots of fibre. Meals are cooked from fresh every day with no highly processed industrial stuff. No digestive or cardiac problems here.

I think that is possible but people do need to take some measure of responsibility for their own intake.

Artificial sweeteners are likely to be worse except against excessive use of sugars as both are bad for you.

Non artificial sweeteners are becoming used more by food manufacturers as artificials are getting more of a bad name (rightly so) making them still able to say that the sweeteners are OK for diabetics - a growing medical problem amongst the young, mainly exacerbated by too much sugars.

This would bring up the current problem about not sufficient parental care and control. When I was a lad...

I also use ground almonds but some people may find them too expensive. :dunno:

Can someone suggest a foodstuff that isn't harmful if eaten excessively?

I dont think the problems lie around the substance its more about the quantity.

Remember, milk is bad for you, butter is bad for you, red meat is bad, fresh fruit rots your teeth I'm sure there are loads of others.

                Its just not safe.:yikes:

Ideally, yes, but we are primed by evolution to be drawn to calorie-dense food, which makes today's supermarkets a danger zone for most people.

I would like to see changes made to portion size perception. When fizzy drinks first came on the market, 200 mls was the norm, and even at that amount, Coca Cola had to add Phosphoric Acid, an anti-emetic, to the recipe because people found the direct hit of so much sugar in one go brought on nausea. We have become habituated to huge portions of junk food. To change that, you have to change what is on offer. If Coke cans shrank to 200 mls (maybe in several steps), people would start to see that as a portion size. The pleasure hit from sugar (or sweetened food) peaks in the first two bites/sips/spoonfuls and then decreases rapidly. People would adjust pretty quickly. Of course, the big food manufacturers would be aghast and start media campaigns about the nanny-state, etc. It might be a fight no gov could hope to win, even though it would be in the best interests of public health.

I can't eat celery. :) It has to be marked in bold on packaging as it is considered an allergen.

I suspect they would just have more 200 ml cans.
