If you use it for vehicle parking, it would be classed as a driveway - they are far too cute to miss out on revenue like that.

I was under the impression that Khan's reasons for a driveway tax was to save water in stop flooding.
Therefore a porous driveway would avoid the tax, if not, what reason is he using.

To be fair, @Fat Controller , the legislation to impose road tax on electric vehicles was put in place by the Conservatives. Tempting but unfair to blame everything on the new government...

To be fair, I didn't say it was Labour that had made that decision - I think I said they should be given time as they will almost certainly make many more dumber moves as time goes on.

It took them two minutes to cancel the Rwanda legislation so the new government are perfectly able to not align to previous government plans :dunno:

I simply don't like that there's been a huge push to electric then anyone playing along are now getting wallet robbed again and again

I'm quite glad, if I am honest. Maybe it will start to sink in that none of these governments are doing anything for us, but rather all working to force us to do what they think we should be doing. Dictatorship by taxation - been saying it for years.

They must have been losing revenue giving EV drivers tax breaks, its about time the true cost of owning an EV was brought into line.

I read something the other day that all new cars from now on will be speed limited in Europe so that they are unable to exceed speed limits.
Not sure if that is true.

It went on to say all new cars sold in Britain will have the same technology and its up to the government to decide if they want it turned on or not.

Aye, they all do the same - set traps for each other and seem to spend four out of the five years of their term blaming 'the last lot' then in the final year somehow find gold bars down the back of the sofa

            Hi,

Thanks @Fat Controller; how long before we get taxed because we have a bed. I said to my wife if I was single I'd enjoy a day in France returning by rubber dingy.

We have a dictatorship here in the UK where the lunatics are in charge of the asylum; it needs stopping and get someone in charge with a bit of common sense.

They are out to extract every penny possible from those who have worked hard to buy their own home and wow; with garden; garage; car & driveway. There's zero incentive to work here in the UK. I'm taxed because I was silly enough to pay into a works pension. Decency and fair play are long gone. I stopped voting years ago because it was like choosing whom I'd rather be mugged by; every party is the same.

            Kind regards, Col.

The uptake in new BEV registrations is stalling in Europe which is likely to be even more so for the remainder of the year as these EU tariffs on BEV's made in China kick in. BEV's in Europe currently have a 11.9% market share, with the increase in uptake not even being 2% you can't see many European countries meeting the 2035 target.

Electric car related - there has been quite a bit on the news etc about people either 'ghost charging' their cars or not moving them once charging is complete. A new park and ride has recently opened near us and it has a number of EV charge points. The idea of P&R is that cars are left there, potentially all day, to reduce congestion in town. How are people supposed to use those chargers without leaving vehicles connected all day?

I don't think so. There is no speed limit on the white signed autobahns in Germany so cars can't be physically limited. :noidea:

Well no speed limiter comes in if the particular road has no limit, the limiter is activated by GPS knowing where you are and what road you are on.

Don't think they will have that technology sorted out any time soon. :)
