They can't keep blaming Liz Truss. The blunt truth of that, that nobody seems to be bothered to admit, is that it wasn't all down to Liz Truss - it was the markets/financiers apparently taking fright and building the whole thing up to something more than it was... not that they stood to make more money from increased interest rates etc. When did folks stop questioning utter bull in this country?

I'm annoyed this morning to find that every single online site I've looked at has insisted I list my cookie preferences and this one is insisting I log in every time. I thought when it happened yesterday it was just a regular update kind of thing. It' so time consuming.

Is anybody else experiencing it today?

I am never asked for my cookie preferences here on GC nor do I have to log in. I never bother to log out but just close the window when I shut down. :noidea: I did tick the box "keep me logged in" - I think.

Sounds to me as though there has either been a rather hefty browser update, or there is an external app that has cleared out your cookies - have you ran anything like CCleaner or cleared your browser cache?

Sorry but fed up with the Olympics already, it's completely taken over BBC 1 from 8am to 10pm as far as I can tell.

I caught a bit of the gymnastics yesterday, we were seeing pictures of some Chinese bloke taking bandages off his hands while at the same time a British bloke was doing his bit,and all we got was a running commentary of what was happening, we were then watching the same Chinese bloke wandering back to his seat.

The public sector pension liability is now £2.9 trillion and is unfunded? Perhaps a few savings can be made here.

Our nice new government will hopefully sort it out within the next 14 years.

They won't do that - aside from the fact that it would have to be the snivel service that would actually make the decision and it would also be the same mostly affected... besides, pensions have essentially been a Ponzi scheme from the start. The whole time there was revenue coming in, they had the money to meet the payments, but now revenue is getting tight, they are up a gum tree.

Who'd have thought taxing stuff to force folks to stop folks doing things would ultimately result in them not being able to afford to do anything but the basics (and even then, maybe not manage those!) - - sit and have a think just how much of the money that comes in to you goes back out in tax.

Your browser had an update and changed the setting when leaving to “delete cache and cookies”. I have that with my Vivaldi browser in Linux but it’s probably down to my strict tracking settings. I also have this with Firefox on iPad.

The wealthy elite would never allow an uprising. It hasn't worked anywhere in the world. A tiny minority hold all the power and don't care who they have to use it against to maintain that position. And, even if the unimaginable happened and we got a gov working in the best interests of ordinary people, the US would organise a regime change, just as they have in other places where govs have tried this. Our special relationship with the US is build on the "you do what we say" model.

I think it's great that BBC1 has the Olympics on all day.
If I want an afternoon nap, I can just switch it on.
But, if it's athletics or tennis, then I'm hooked!!

I’m glad that’s only one channel and not like Wimbledon on all channels all day. I always switch between BBC 1 and BBC2, depending on which channel doesn’t show Olympics.

I'd love to know how they plan to meet an increased housing target of 370000 a year.
