Shipping container refurbs, office block repurposing, and pre-fabs maybe.

Planning process for large developments is very lengthy and the supply chain is flaky so it's just not going to happen

By building all over your garden.;)
Once the land tax comes in, then we will be bricking up windows because of the light tax.
    And building overhanging second storeys.

I' think we have been here before.

Not sure the government will meet it; they won't fail though. They will set mandatory targets for local authorities to build the housing, without the funding needed to do so, so it will be the councils that will have failed to meet the targets, not the government.

And look how that turned out - many of them are long pulled down because they were so bad.

They are already tearing up the planning process and are going to remove our right to object - they've learned a trick or two from Uncle Sadiq... ask for people's opinions so you can tick the box of having done so, but then go on to completely ignore any strength of feeling and do whatever you want to do anyway.

A lot of the 60s and 70s stuff was tower blocks, I'm seeing a return to them already, after all governments have slagged them off for about 30yrs.

Some how calling a flat an apartment seems to have made them more desirable.

Going back a bit, thanks @simone_in_wiltshire, I did have an update a day or so ago but can't remember whether it was Microsoft or my Avast anti-virus programme.

It's still causing me annoyance today and I did have to log in again today @shiney and @Fat Controller. I never shut this website down properly, just close the lid. Think I originally ticked the 'keep me logged in' box.

@lizzie27 you can always check the box is ticked by login out and back in again. I've recently started to not tick the box and it automatically logs me off when not active for 30-60 minutes or so. Not a problem for me as for sites I don't need secure I get Edge to store the logon details so they are there for me without typing them in each time....

Back to the axing of the winter fuel allowance, taken from the Waspi Facebook page:

Both Age UK and ex Pension's Minister Baroness Altmann have criticised the Chancellor's announcement of the axing of Winter Fuel Payments, which will impact hard on WASPI women, many of whom are just above the pension credit level.

The WASPI response is - This is yet another blow to women born in the 1950s in particular. The government’s decision to pull the rug out from under pensioners on winter fuel payments is making WASPI women feel cheated all over again. It’s the same playbook as with the much bigger injustice of delaying our State Pension age with little or no notice. Meanwhile, Labour ministers have yet to reveal their thinking about the compensation WASPI women are owed. Another reason to contact your MP.

I agree it hits the same people twice. I don't think Labour has any intention of addressing the WASPI issue. It makes me sad that those campaigners have worked so hard for yrs, but while they have increased awareness, compensation is so unlikely.

I said to my sister in the run up to the election that I could see power might go to Reeves' head and she had the potential to become like Thatcher, driven but ultimately unable to see or foresee the effects of her determination. I just didn't expect it to happen within a month.

It is very strange indeed; there is nothing on the server side that would boot you out as far as I am aware

I just watched the RHS AGM recording that took place a couple of weeks ago at Harlow Carr and I was particularly struck that the roadworks near Wisley have impacted them to the tune of the loss of £5m which is pretty serious. It looked healthily busy when we were there on Sunday but you could tell the footfall was lower in the shop and garden centre.

Also 1h30 mins in there is a question about allowing people on benefits to visit RHS gardens for £1 which is surely an initiative that I really can't imagine anyone would complain especially considering how elitist the gardening establishment tends to be in this country. But apparently some grumpy member took exception...the response was rather good and it boils down to out of 2 million visitors a year only about 40k used this perk. Just amazes me how cruel we have become to want to exclude people who are not similar to ourselves. The fact that most of their gardens are challenging to access by public transport is a barrier many low income families won't be able to overcome to benefit from this offer is something they clearly haven't even considered. Just depressing that this level of bigotry is still so normalised.

You can watch it here btw

My money goes on Avast. It deletes the temp folder. Check the settings if there is something with “Delete Temporary Files”.
