Yesterday, a neighbour gave us a bag which contained courgettes, potatoes and runner beans. His surplus, our gain.
    How kind.

When I came into the garden half past 8, I found my jute roll on the ground. I had forgotten it yesterday, and a fox had visibly enjoyed to play with it over night.
While trying to save what can be saved, all starlings from our area and some tits and sparrows flew in and straight to my blue bird bath. It didn’t take long, there have been so many that 4, 5 or more were in the bath at the same time and when one left, two others jumped impatiently into the water. It looked like Bournemouth beach on a hot weekend. You cannot imagine what it looked like to have around 100 birds if not more sitting on the roof, on the fences, flying to the nearby apple tree and queuing around the bath.
Of course there was no water left after 5 minutes.
        That made my day.

My ones come in the morning and than half past 6 again around. I didn’t expect that mass bathing this morning but you will find me in the evening and tomorrow morning in the garden with my camera!

Our main one is full. The extra one I suspect is empty by now, given that it is out of sight from the house.

Oh how neat and orderly, birds using a bird bath!

The previous generations of sparrows used the beach of my little pond and had great fun in dodging the little fountain.

The new generation is not at all into the watery things, instead they enjoy dust baths in my flowerpots.

It took me a while to figure out where the compost was disappearing until I caught them red handed. They seemed to have fun though! :)

I have decided to water the pots a bit more regularly.

I'm happy because I ate the first peach from the tree in our new garden. It was beautifully soft, ripe and sweet.
We may pick some of the others.
I never knew we could grow peaches in the UK, outdoors.

I've no idea. We inherited it. Half the tree is dead, so we may well remove it anyway. We'll probably get no more than a dozen, and a different tree should produce more.

Superb weather! It tipped it down during the night, but was sunshine this morning. One water barrel full and the other 2/3 full.... Plants and me are very happy.

We had a big thunderstorm in the early hours and what sounded like torrential rain but only 2mm in my rain gauge :noidea:

I got hooked by Olympia, loved all the water competitions. Well done Team GB.

About Germany, I found some comments by readers in a German newspaper (translated):

"The performance of the German team has been pathetic so far."

"A society that is hostile to achievement, in which discussions about no longer grading students in order not to frustrate them, hardly creates success, which is mainly due to diligence and ambition."

"Where exactly can I find a performance-oriented society in this country? I would like to be part of it, away from quotas, pigeonholing, bureaucracy, woke ways of thinking and I-am-a-victim-chanters, away from a society under which the infrastructure crumbles to dust and more and more does not work."
