Yes, its not surprising at all, but they are targeting the wrong group.

They should be targeting their anger at the super rich. Those who purposefully hoard as much land as possible and pay as little tax as possible. And leave less for everyone else.

Not people fleeing oppression, starvation, torture and murder by savage regimes across the world.

For the most part, they are not targeting anyone - the footage I have seen shows people demonstrating and then it descends from there. There is one incident today I believe where a migrant centre was set alight, but I haven't seen much of that one.

The problem that we do definitely have is the two tier strategy going on. - to the point #TwoTierKier has become a trend. Announcing almost £29m funding to protect mosques (not churches, not synagogues, only mosques) and yet again berating the public "you will regret this" is only going to be a red rag to a bull in my opinion.

Keir Starmer is coming across like a supply teacher telling off naughty schoolkids - and the angrier he is getting the more he is being ignored or defied. He is out of his depth (not hard, he'd be out of his depth in a puddle) and making matters worse.

I agree he has the tone all wrong on this. I suspect he thinks saying anything nuanced will be seen as weak, but there are quite a lot of things going on simultaneously here, and unless the different causes are teased out and addressed, tensions will implode regularly.

The media have definitely not helped the situation here. The conflation of those three children being murdered with all of these protests and violence is simply not true. It may have been the catalyst for the start, but what we are seeing is an outpouring of anger that has been simmering away for many, many years.

To label decent people that are law abiding, but have real concerns, as far-right is quite simply appalling talk from any politician, let alone a PM. People such as these, from Aldershot and Fanrborough:

As you say, there are so many threads running concurrently here that he would be well advised to take a different tack.

Last words, before it's too late.

I think it's already too late.

For protection? Synagogues have needed protection for almost a year already.

Meanwhile, protests in Bangladesh have seen the gov fall ... and the BBC is wholly on the side of the masses, calling it "people power". It seems it's fine for some countries to have unrest.

My thinking is they should not use dogs or horses, they have all kind of vehicles, and water cannons should be used.
But no, they drag horses and dogs into it, the dogs appear to be half strangled most of the time and horses get all kinds of nasty things done to them.

About time they just sorted it out, with both sides, instead of pussy footing around.

If, as you say, there's a majority of the population with opinions which are not being taken seriously, @Fat Controller , but you don't agree with violent demonstration, how would you suggest they make their voices heard?

I'd start with proportional representation for a start. I'd also put in rules/laws that mean politicians have to stand by their manifestos, and have also got to stand by the decisions they sign off (be that individually or jointly) with legal recourse on them personally for any later wrongdoing (including decisions taken where they have chosen to not fully understand the ramifications of what they are signing off).

Less than 20% of the population of this country voted for the current party and PM, which to me speaks volumes as to where we are in our view of politicians and their performance.

Well, @ViewAhead ... among other things the Bangladeshi government closed down the Internet and social media, and imposed a shoot-on-sight curfew which killed between 300 and 500 people, including children. Perhaps Bangladeshis had enough reason to riot and overthrow their government.

From what I can gather, the majority of people rioting in the UK have been incited to do so by misinformation on X and similar sites, many were not from the local area, were drunk, and when asked what they were rioting about, didn't have a coherent answer. "Enough is enough" doesn't indicate to me someone who's really got an idea about the true level of immigration.
