For that to happen, there would need to be an acknowledgment that there is more than one group involved.

Do you honestly believe that it is solely the murders of those three children that has caused this?

I agree with you about PR, @Fat Controller . The trouble with making a party stand by their manifesto is that circumstances may change, and make impossible something they've promised. I'd have thought that the ability to adapt to circumstance is a sign of strength, not weakness.

You'd get coalitions if we had PR, which would mean that there would have to be compromise, so that the most way-out ideas in a party's manifesto would have to change...

Circumstances may change - but they do not change in the way that Rachel Reeves has suggested, for example. Only weeks before, she had said that everything was fully costed because she had seen all the figures... two weeks in, she is announcing tax rises as well as cuts to certain projects and also pensioner's heating allowance. The £20bn hole suddenly appeared after the junior doctors were given a 22% pay rise and £11.6bn was committed for African nations for 'climate change' - - those two alone account for almost all of the £20bn 'hole'... people are not stupid.

Coalitions would lead to more compromise and would (should) hopefully lead to those way-out policies being ditched in favour policies that we all really need. Let's work on the basics for once and leave the far out stuff.

I think even the BBC had to show the crowd shouting Ali Akbar on the news.

Yes its been simmering for a while, years even, I dont think it has much to do with the three girls that got killed like the BBC keep trying to to make out, that may have sparked it off, but its been brewing up about so called asylum seekers for a long time.

Yvette Cooper and Starmer are trying to be really scary.:roflol:

Well, indeed. My point was not about Bangladesh per se, but about the BBC. They were applauding people power in one place, whilst choosing to selectively report on what is happening here. You will never hear the BBC make any sort of acknowledgement that unhappiness about irregular immigration may have some justification.

As I said in an earlier post, there are several things going on here. By focusing only on the violent disorder, the gov is avoiding the issues.

Cooper is learning pretty fast that being Shadow Home Sec is very different to the real job.

I only have to go into the town I have known all my life to know the true level of immigration, I dont go there, I dont understand the languages.
I even come across the same thing while walking the dog in the park, its mostly the ethnic majority that I meet.
I almost feel like I am the foreigner.

Whilst asylum seekers are high on the agenda, I do also think that there is a much more general anger that has been festering away for a very long time. We all went through 'austerity' after the financial crash in 2008, many lost jobs at the time too, and since then we've all seen public services slowly degrade. In the past couple of years, that has been accelerated massively and coupled with an exponential increase in violent crime (let's face it, law & order have pretty much disappeared recently) - the most recent murders put things right on a knife edge. It seems to be conveniently forgotten that there had been the incidents in Manchester Airport and in Harehills, as well as the soldier being stabbed in London in the preceding week, as well as

Two things made it finally blow up in my opinion - firstly, there was misinformation about who the killer was, but secondly there was the way that Starmer was when he went to lay flowers. He was closely guarded and spoke to nobody... aye, and was even heckled as he did so. There was zero compassion for anyone in the locality - he was there as a photo op to show that he had done the "right thing"

Things rolled from there - and as people saw others take to the streets to protest, many chose to join them. As is always the way with these things, there is a criminal element that chooses violence and damage.

I think that every person who is arrested for any kind of racially motivated or anti-immigrant aggression should be forced to have a DNA test to assess their own ethnicity. This would draw them up against the fact that they are themselves descendants of immigramts and that there are probably less than 1% of British people with “pure” British ancestry. All the rest of us are a mongrel bunch of incomers.

We might be mongrels but we were born here and have paid taxes for years.

What you are suggesting could be applied to any country in the world.

But we dont all wander around the world dumping ourselves on other countries.

I'm sure if I tried that I would very quickly end up back here.

Er, the British Raj. The British East India Company. North America. The Opium Wars. To name a few examples of us dumping ourselves on other peoples.

Yeah, and we get dragged over the coals over it as you are suggesting now.
                It wasn't right was it?;)

I’m pretty sure the vast majority of North American native people would say it’s not. And the Australian aborigines too. I know someone who lives in Oz who got their DNA results back, expecting to be 100% European only to find that they have quite a large percentage of Aborigine in them. No way that that could have occurred without some sort of “persuasion” and dumping of said DNA by a European on a local.

Its about turning up in a rubber boat and saying to that country you now have to house me and look after me.
For some reason you are into DNA, I dont really care what their DNA is, its irrelevant, its the fact that somehow they become our problem.

I honestly believe that people with evil intent used the children's murders as a trigger, posting lies about the ethnicity, background and name of the perpetrator to encourage anyone with a grievance, real or imaginery, against immigrants, foreigners, Muslims etc, to riot.
