I find it amazing that the usual suspects here are taking an exception that the government isn't allowing mosques to be burned to the ground and are resorting the usual whataboutery about other religious buildings. Did they miss that the mobs are going after brown people and Muslims because "Tommy" told them?

Hey at least there are no mobs in Scotland as the good people up there know fascist scum when they see it...after all Farage felt unwelcome during the election campaign.

I suppose the difference is we didn't invent ourselves whereas religion really is man-made. ;)

On the news this morning a fantastic revelation.
By vaccinating badgers in the west country they have wiped out TB.

I think we all had an idea that might happen but it was so much easier for DEFRA to spend years trying to wipe the species off the planet.

Three water companies are to be fined a total of £168 million.

Isn’t that going to push bills even higher.

This is a difficult one for me - the water companies have clearly done things wrong (and have been for a long time in my opinion), thus are deserving of a fine. The amount that those water companies charge is capped, or at least the amount/percentage they can be increased is, by Ofwat. In theory, that being the case, any fine levied will simply come from their operating profit and thus shareholder dividends. The downside of that, of course, is that in turn throttles investment, in turn slowing infrastructure upgrades, leading to further problems.

I do wonder if it is to some degree a deliberate and political move to financially crush these companies, whilst at the same time bringing some much needed cash back into public coffers - Thames Water is on the verge of collapse as it is, so this is merely one nail in quite a large coffin. Whilst I am against the current trend to end capitalism, I equally quite strongly believe that some things should never have been privatised, with water being right at the top of the list. This could be a back-door move to renationalise water companies, and in all honesty I am not sure it is such a bad thing.

Sounds like a much better idea to me - how do they distribute the vaccine though? Particularly ensuring they get all of the badgers?

It looked like they were injecting them, but how they catch them and sedate them I don't know.

Can you imagine the advert for that job?!

WANTED - Operative to locate, momentarily capture local wildlife and administer a vaccine. You will be playing a vital role not only in improving the health of the wildlife and forming part of a national team doing so, thus being part of a revolutionary process that will lead the world. The effects of your work extend beyond the health of the wildlife itself and into protecting the food chain for humans, whilst also contributing to a reduction in respiratory illness in humans also.
It should be noted that some of the recipients of the vaccine may not be as delighted to see you, nor as grateful for your efforts as they should be, so you will have to learn to administer the vaccine whilst wearing a full suit of armour. When working with large groups, a sniper will be provided for your protection.

Maybe like human vaccine you only have to do a fairly high percentage for it to be effective for all.
I think they said only about 16% actually had TB anyway.
                            Now it's zero.

If it is like a human vaccine, does that mean they will need seven boosters and still have it not work?
