Woken early by seagulls this morning. I know that the farmer has been out in the field opposite with his tractor the last few days, but all is quiet now. Just the wood pigeons, turtle dove and blackbird calling.
Got the plumber in today, early, so maybe I ought not drop off again!
Good morning to all. I guess @Ladybird4 will be first about - my new hedge trimmer is due to arrive today!!

Good morning everyone! Got it in one @RowlandsCastle! I had a rubbish night's sleep last night so cannot see me focusing well on any activity today. I have just had to look up how to report a suspected abandoned car as there has been one parked outside my house since Sunday. It is obscuring the footpath and preventing me from getting to my hedge to get my hedge trimmer in action today. Don't forget to charge up the battery!

        Good morning everyone.

Bright and sunny again here so now the immediate household bits have been done I'm just having a cuppa before heading out to do some more gate painting before things get too hot.

OH has been busy on the phone as it seems that, being a UK pensioner, my French health insurance only covers 60% of any costs incurred while in Italy next week. He's found cover up to 5million euros for £26 for just those 4 days. Interesting, to say the least as we were thinking of a longer jaunt together to northern Spain one of these days.

@RowlandsCastle I sometimes think it would be good to be nearer the sea but then I notice the noise and mess of seagulls when we're there and am glad that, at 20kms inland, we only get them when there's ploughing going on in the fields opposite. On my last trip to England I stayed overnight in Calais and was rudely awoken at 5am by a seagull perched on the roof. I am not a morning person tho it did mean I could catch an earlier ferry.

@Ladybird4 Hope you get the car obstruction sorted but maybe not the best idea to wield a hedge trimmer if you're tired.

Good morning @Obelix-Vendée. I have just finished filling in a form online about the suspected abandoned car for the police. I went and had a good look around and in it first. It is full of junk - parcel wrappings, empty drinks (non alcoholic) bottles and food wrappers. It definitely looks abandoned though I couldn't see any damage. Watch this space. I do think that figure for the Health Insurance is a good one.

It is @Ladybird4 but it increases every day so could become a factor for 2 of us if we want to leave for more than a week or so. Not worth going without it tho.

Morning. I must have been tired; I slept 11 hours! We had a power cut in the night, so my clock went off. Good job I didn't need to be up and out early. Got the hair chair at 12.
Off to the caravan later. Must water and feed before we go.
I've lost another lb. 5 lbs to goal.
That seems a good price for insurance, if only for 4 days @Obelix-Vendée
@Ladybird4 hope the car is swiftly removed.

              Happy birthday @redstar

                Morning all.

It rained slightly in the night but is sunny now.

OH took me out to lunch yesterday at our favourite restaurant in Aubeterre. He hadn't booked so we were lucky to get a table. He had thought of eating in the town square but that was heaving with tourists and all the tables were full.

I must go and tie up the American pillar rose which is supposed to be climbing up the dead nectarine tree, but it's waving its arms all over the place. Very prickly.

Have you taken photos of car - type, registration plate, how it obstructs, identifying marks?
In our previous house, wife was Neighbourhood Watch rep, so we had all the necessary info. Sadly, I think she disposed of it before we left.

Thanks for the tips @RowlandsCastle. The actual online form asked for all of those details so I was able to tell them the make and model, number plate etc and I took pictures of the Ka too. They didn't need the pictures but I will save them anyway.

                      Good afternoon all!!

Early start - well sort of - as I was getting dressed, I heard thunder and suddenly it started to rain, so had to wait until it was over. Saw that dreadful man this morning with his Jack Russell in his arms - yelling at me "Impossible - Impossible - She has understood nothing" I just waved and dog and I sailed past!

Quick cold shower then down to the markets for eggs. Came home with lettuce, melon, eggs and oysters. I decided to spoil myself!!

Coming home, I decided to give the fridge a bit of a clean, then my sister called. She lives near Queenstown and it is very cold down there in the Southern Alps! Good skiing weather though. By that time - my oysters were calling me from the fridge. Together with a mixed salad, I had lunch. Now I will chill out this afternoon. It's going to be exceptionally hot. It is sunny and still quite muggy.

@Obelix-Vendée My vegetable garden is the same. Courgettes are non-existent although I have 3 plants with flowers. M and F. I have green peppers but only about 2 each plant. Same with aubergines. My tomatoes are ripening nicely but there won't be enough for sauce this year - or maybe just one pottle. Although I sowed a selection, I seem to have mainly Beefsteak and Bloody Butcher and only 1 cocktail. I have had 3 cucumbers in all, but they are fun of flowers and the bees are bus. Beans - ha! Embarrassing! And that was stringy! Anyway, it's one of those years, I guess. Nature is elusive!!

I do hope you all are enjoying the summer and having a nice day.

Wednesday. Big storm late yesterday, and buckets of rain fell. Electric went out, thank goodness for the generator. Then rain during the night, some rain now. Suppose to be a hurricane coming up the coast down around NC. my cleaner is going over to the house there to secure the outside chairs.

@Penny_Forthem thank you for the wishes. We will be going out to dinner later to celebrate. A new place, French food. Looking forward.

Well on to whatever. take care all.

@Tui34, my tomatoes are slow to being stopped and as for my mini cukes, they look rather like 2cm hairy, green caterpillars. I doubt I will try growing these again.
I wonder what that weird guy's problem is? Sorry you had to be subjected to his presence again.
I've just had to sort out my tax disc for the car and my membership fee for the National Trust, having already received a 'thank you' email for the automatic renewal of my TV licence. This is proving to be an expensive month and I will soon have to pay my insurance for the car. Ho hum.
