I can vouch for the Tomato, Orange and Ginger soup recipe from @Obelix-Vendée. I also like Pea and Ham soup / Mushroom soup / Veg soup. All home made. The last time I bought a tin of soup was back in the '70's - about the same era as Noodles in a Cup

 

I only have a very small, quick access savings account with Natwest, its my buffer account for emergencies.

 

Interesting about the Car Tax - mine dropped to £30 pa in 2002 and has remained the same since.
I've never understood why it was so dramatically reduced from well over the hundred mark - particularly given the state of the roads but haven't heard any mention of an increase from the new govt. to pay for the endless maintenance needed.
Perhaps the PM never encounters a pot hole - either that or his Security Guards crouch down on any bit of rough road so the PM doesn't feel the effect and is thus unaware ? ?

 

I think they are going to start taxing electric vehicles, but I doubt any extra money with be spent on roads.

 

@pete I could be wrong but I understood Electric vehicles were much heavier and could therefore be accused of causing more damage to the roads ?
Apart from that, surely anything on wheels using the road network should be paying towards the upkeep - that should include any electric vehicle as well as cyclists and E scooters. Use the roads = pay road tax.
Maybe that's too simple an idea to put into practice for any govt. of whatever persuasiom - best stick to the usual crap I guess

 

Unfortunately I dont think road tax has ever been used to repair roads, just like fuel duty, it all get thrown in the bag and then dealt out for other things.
Roads always seem fairly low down on most governments agenda, which is strange when you consider that the whole country is dependant on them.

It's odd how councils and governments in the UK (mis)manage roads.

In Belgium we always knew there was an imminent election as loads of roadworj-ks sprung up.

Here in France, we can call the Mairie to signal a pothole and they come and fill it within 48 hours.

 

Doomsday! I had just gotten used to boasting about my interest gains that buy me a branded chocolate bar every month, now it's back to Lidl own brand one.

 

I did used to report potholes but reporting them has become difficult now due to so many.
When you look at their map it just a complete mass of reports on some roads.
