How much for the subsequent liver damage?

 

Now, I don't follow the histrionic saga that is Katie Price's life very closely, but occasionally the odd detail filters through. It appears TikTok paid her £84,000 in 3 months. Which begs the question, for what exactly? I'm pretty sure I don't want to know the answer to that, but it seems an astonishing amount to pay someone whose only discernible talent is keeping herself in the news.

Not all insurers try to get out of paying when a claim is made. I've been with Direct Line for home and contents insurance for years. Although I do a price comparison each year nobody has bettered their price by enough to make the change worth the effort.
I have made 2 claims in the past 10 years. One on the home part and one on contents. Both have paid out promptly without any hassle.

 

Surely even removing the teeth wouldn't cost that! Or was it cancer of the mouth? Prices have gone silly there.

Out of curiosity, what do you pay for insurance? As for ourselves, we put by so much each month then pay cash ... and we are miles ahead.

 

I don't think there is any 'must' about either option being cheaper. One serious illness or injury for an animal can result in massive vet bills. If you are fortunate enough to have a pet which basically stays healthy then putting money aside will be cheaper.

 

The insurance I have taken out has a maximum payout per year, I think it's only £4000.
I think that payment is for each new illness as well, so if you use the maximum on one illness that's not then covered again in subsequent years.

 

I had an African Grey Parrot for over 40 years. On returning to the UK 12 years ago, he became ill after a few months. The local vet didn't have sufficient experience and advised me to go to the Bristol Vet clinic which dealt with "exotics". After various scans and Xrays and consultation with a vet clinic in Canada, he was diagnosed with water on the brain and the kindest treatment was euthanasia. I can't recall the exact cost but it amounted to around £500 to £600 from 1st to last visit. No insurance but to me it was well worth it - I certainly didn't like the outcome but I received detailed explanations and expert advice.

 

I've just been looking at the sentences handed down to those who took part in the violence associated with the (misguided) protests after the Southport stabbings. I have absolutely no sympathy for those who have been jailed, but hope and expect that similar sentences will be handed down to those who act violently at other protests, irrespective of the reason for the protest and the political leanings of those involved. People do need to be able to make peaceful protest but not to threaten and/or intimidate others.
