What's looking Good In August 2024

Good grief @pete my hedychium are weeks from flowering.
The chilopsis looks good

 

Densiflorum is usually first, of the ones I have, followed by tara and gardnerianum.
I dont have any others as I find they flower too late.

 

I think I spotted a bit of bare earth showing in third from last picture @Perki

 

best not be I'll investigate tomorrow in the daylight, they maybe some Ophiopogon around there but it might be further down

That agapanthus looks almost purple @Perki - which variety is it please?

There's a few newer Agapanthus that are quite dark @CarolineL , so perhaps one of those?
A. Black Jack was a new one heralded last year [?] at Chelsea I think.

 

Oh well done! I'm still trying to kill off the original plant but now have 6 babies rooted from basal cuttings Can't wait for next year's plant swaps to get going...

 

Fairygirl is correct @CarolineL it black Jack won plant if the year 2023 supposedly a repeat flowering I'll see about that this year. I got it cheap ish 3L £15 or less same week as Chelsea flower show, it were double the price a week later.

I'm sure when things die back later on, I'll find all those mugs of coffee and tools I've mislaid

 

The wee cyclamen have all been coming through in the last week or so. The whites are always difficult to get clearly on camera. I must research that a bit more!


Clematis Julka has very dark, velvety flowers. It's been nice to see them as it's been a real juggling job with it this year due to those pesky slugs being worse than usual. It's been dug up, potted, 'moated', and constantly moved out of the wind, but it's thriving now. Phewww...

 

I always find in my garden that things are starting to look a bit tatty or going over at this time of year, but not my helianthus, given to me by a neighbour. It's quite tall and rather prickly to touch and does need some controlling. But the yellow is so bright and it goes on and on. My best plant at the moment.
