No idea if he's on Quora, you'll have to ask on Quora, but the reference is to the "Bard of Barnsley", who also presents The Verb now on Radio 4 after a long while on Radio 3.

Quora is a Q&A site American based bit you get posters from all over the world.
Mostly peopled by trolls and morons but there are are gems.

and 'canny' [spelt differently] means 'cannot' here in the west of Scotland.

Have we [and I use that word 'we' loosely] completely lost the ability to just call things what they are? Mind you, I knew the answer to that when they stopped calling blackboards in schools 'blackboards' and changed it to chalk boards. It's a board and it's black. That's it.
Why is calling your parents Mum and Dad [or Mother and Father if you're posh ;)] a problem?

@RowlandsCastle - I find the use of the word 'guys' very unprofessional when it's in a professional setting. Completely different when among your friends. Perhaps the word 'friends' will be done away with soon too...

Road closures! :th scifD36: I have just driven 9 miles to effectively get half a mile. I could have chosen to sit in a 2-mile long loop of stationary traffic instead, but decided I preferred to be moving. I could have abandoned the car and walked, returning for it this evening, but, of course, you aren't allowed to park anywhere without a smart phone app. Seriously fed up with it. :nonofinger:

It's all part of the bigger plan, cause as much congestion as possible in the name of safety, then they can tell us charging by the mile is needed.
I just wonder if it's more likely to be charging per hour as per mile isn't going to add up with all the congestion they have created.

Well, the plan is working down here. Maybe it will be per mile and per hr. :th scifD36:

I think its working everywhere, the 20mph in Wales was part of the plan.

I just wish I had bought shares in tempory traffic lights about 10 yrs ago.
                  I'd be a millyonair now.

What we need to do @pete is start a business 'recycling' 30 mph signs - stockpile them, and then when they rip all the 20mph ones out, we will have stock ready to go...

I think the ones in Wales have Velcro on them.
