I remember it well, it was part of the driving test, being able to use hand signals to indicate to the policeman. An old photograph popped up recently on a Facebook page of my old home town, some young person had labelled it as a "Bobby watching the world go by", the policeman was stood in the middle of the road and was obviously directing traffic. They certainly kept traffic flowing better than the traffic lights that replaced them.

Road works used to be better when they had the stop/go signs.

 

Not a great start for Starmer and his gormless gang, the magic money tree has withered. Giving in to the doctors and public sector workers and raiding pensioner's pockets is a disaster. Place your bets on the triple lock going next.

 

They already started mentioning PFI and taxes a dead cert to rise in October. They've spent their first months wazzing money away to get rid of strikes only to shortly realise more will ride on the back of the agreements and to see that the Tories, aside from currently being complete turds, were actually also trying to balance ridiculous pay offs with practical finances

 

They need watching, very carefully... their claims are for a £20bn black hole and that could be filled by circa £55 a month more tax paid by every working person in the UK and ONLY those in work.

Already we are hearing of 10p being added to fuel duty (so roughly £6 on a tankful), potentially pay-per-mile (which we already do, with the exception of EV's) along with other tax hikes being mooted, including council tax. It would seem they are intending not only filling the so called black hole (that they mostly created) but overshooting the runway for it by a country mile.

I was going to suggest buying them in bulk from a cash and carry or Amazon - but having just looked at Amazon, the cheapest is £18.38 for 24 (76.5p per bar versus the 61.6p per bar you have just paid); it appears that will be the next thing to be priced out of reach.

Stevie Wonder on a dark night could see that Starmer and Reeves have created that black hole - now it appears their strategy to deal with the black hole is to create a bigger one to hide it in.

As of August 7, 2024, the price of cocoa beans was $8,380.13 per tonne, which is a 7.88% increase from the previous month and a 168.2% increase from the previous year. In early 2024, cocoa prices reached over $11,000 per metric ton, which is almost three times higher than the average price since the 1980s

It is the extreme high price of chocolate in April that is now 'feeding' through the system but I bet they won't drop the price now it has gone down a bit.
